It got better.

all goes to poo poo when then come to earth for the entirety of season 4
Season 4 wasn't as good as 3, but it was still pretty great.

Farscape is also good.

Can any of the fine folks in tviv give me a rundown on this show? Thanks!
Season 1: A bunch of cowardly, selfish, short-sighted idiots accidentally come into possession of an absurdly powerful space ship. They fly around meeting more terrible people in disgusting places before finally deciding to do something worthwhile for once in their meaningless lives.

Season 2: Stanley and Zev/Xev fly around aimlessly looking for something to do. 790 and Kai tag along. They meet even worse people in even more disgusting places and learn that the universe is doomed and there's nothing they can do about it.

Season 3: They reach a pair of planets that are literally heaven and hell. Hell is ruled by an immortal being named Prince, who wants to use the Lexx to destroy heaven. This being hell, the people there are even worse than the ones they'd met previously. Heaven's pretty nice though.

Season 4: They arrive on late twentieth-century Earth, a planet that is about to be destroyed by man's hubris. Prince is there too, along with a bunch of other characters from previous seasons, but only Prince and the Lexx crew remember any of that. There are vampires and fairies and bad carrots, and the ATF is the most powerful organisation in the world.

So basically, it's a really great show.

I sort of don't count 'season 1', personally. I couldn't get through it and wasn't that season just a series of more or less TV movies?
But Eating Pattern is one of the best episodes, and Super Nova is great too. I Worship His Shadow and Giga Shadow drag a bit at times, but they're still decent.

Seasons 1 and 2 were amazing. 3 started going off the rails and got hard to watch, and 4 was just awful.

Season 1 and 2 have enough to keep you interested, but season 3 is where it really picks up and season 4 is amazing.
