I think you misunderstand (moosunderstand?) what Fortuna is doing, Theantero. Convincing part of the population to turn against Legendairy could avoid war and may end his campaign of terror over one of the five peoples of Somewhere (the Fortugnat). This isn't an anti-Laitache move, it's an anti-Legendairy-and-moosiles hail mary. :colbert:

Does anyone else think it's terribly appropriate that the precipitation of the goddess of fortune is, not only the first god to roll a crit sux, but to roll two in row?

I think it's a shame the real goddess of fortune couldn't manage to do the same. :argh:

Stake hauled himself out of the rubble of his hopes and dreams, cursing his very survival. He knew what it meant, and he knew what it cost. Many or most of his Riskers had bent the odds for him and paid the price for it. The fools should have let him die and saved themselves, but he didn't have time to dwell on it. His own Sorcerisk had saved as many civilians as he could, and he called on the survivors now to look for anyone else in the wreckage. As for himself, he went to examine the corpse of Patina.

Her massive Silver body sagged under its own weight, pressing down onto the beach where she lay. Furious, he launched a stake into her extinct Icon, ringing her face like a bell. Some part of her corpse rattled and fell away, revealing for a moment a brilliant mass within. Or at least, he thought so - it vanished in an instant. Curious, he peeled away a section of material, revealing again that brilliant mystery inside.
CHUNK OF SOMETHING
Curiously, foolishly, he touched it. It rippled and immediately took on the ruddy color of Dicestone - no, of his very flesh. It sloughed off the brilliant stuff, which was already beginning to grow a shell of Silver where it was exposed to Patina's shell.

He leapt off the corpse, distracted despite himself. Could it be what they'd be searching for? Here, hidden in the belly of the Atrocity. He hadn't time to waste - but he couldn't let his People suffer either. He ordered a message sent to the Iliminali: The Liminal Material was here, now!

It went without saying that they should bring the Anti-Divinity Shield to keep it safe - but he said it anyhow.

Wow!
