"To be quite frank, Platinum sucks at making games. Vanquish was terrible and Metal Gear Rising: Revengance was so boring it put me to sleep."

I have used a Yahoo email account for 20 years. In the last few years things have got flaky. A handful of emails (in and out) have been deleted by Yahoo, seemingly at random. For example I had some important business emails with time sensitive data go missing from both in my outbox account and the recipients' inbox account within about 2 weeks of sending. Some random dates have been assigned to old emails (some for dates in future...go figure...). A month or two ago I got a general message from Yahoo suggesting that they delete all old emails in my inbox from everyone except my top 10 most used contacts. (I didn't take that offer up, strangely.) I now get crumby "amazing video!!!" imbedded players in my spam and trash pages when I delete everything in the folders. The banner ads are getting larger and more intrusive.

I know from the press that Yahoo is in financial trouble. I guess offering to delete emails is a way of Yahoo freeing up server storage and save them storage/costs. I wonder if Yahoo might go bust. If it does go bust, will another provider buy up the email service? I have 19,000 inbox emails and 21,000 outbox emails and I search them for old documents, facts, transaction information, passwords, phone numbers, etc. If the emails are deleted I will lose about 34% of my brain function. I am not sure I can face opening an account with a new provider unless I have to. It is said that people are more likely to get divorced than change their bank. It must be something close to that for email accounts. I'll do it if I have to.

Will Yahoo go bust?

Should I worry about it?

Should I take precautionary steps (and what might they be)?

Thanks for the advice, goons. I'll just take my horse-drawn buggy to the post office to mail my printed emails to an uncle in North Dakota. Back to in three days.

Is this the thread where I blub about Putin stealing my log in security questions?

Why is my log-in page now in cyrillic?

Apparently Yahoo's password was "Yahoo".
