I made these in an attempt to stop buying them at the store and god drat. They are so good. Dipping them in tea is heaven.
Only problem is that it makes 60-70 ish cookies so my friends and family I handed them out to want more immediately.

That was too high yield for me to bother with cookie cutters so I started by rolling the first dozen into balls and flattening them with the bottom of a glass.
This also proved too much work so I rolled the dough out in large sheets and cut it into squares with a pizza cutter. That worked great.

And I made enough spice mix for 2 more batches, I'm going to try putting it in everything....

It's been a long time since I had a serious baking failure so my time had come.

I tried the foodwishes soft pretzel recipe which uses store bought pizza dough and should come together quick and easy in like half an hour.
No.
Everything went wrong that could possibly go wrong, boiling them in the alkaline solution was a huge foamy mess, and even making half of them cinnamon-sugar coated as insurance against failure was not enough.

They had such an intense PRETZEL chemical taste I nearly spit out my first bite. I left them for my housemates.

What are my best options for a vegan butter substitution? I'm making cookies for a crowd, and some dietary restrictions apply.

Vegan margarine is usually your best bet, but depending on end textures you can also use bananas, apple sauce, baking powder+water, or extra oil.
I often end up helping with the xmas baking for my vegan sister and the margarine is best overall, but for example the banana can work in oatmeal cookies even better. Whatever kind of cookie you're making, google for a vegan version and see what they used as your guide.

Do you have chai spices?
Google "chai spice cookies" and compare the amount of mix you have to the amount in a recipe. Add as much chai spice to your mix as there is proportionate to the recipe you choose from google. Or add slightly less for safety. Taste the dough. Add more possibly.

Either.

Half the dough before you put in the chai and try both.

Any tips on flouring/buttering a pan, or on cutting out the parchment paper for the bottom? Honestly, I have always kinda sucked at tracing stuff like a circle around a vase, etc.

watch a few episodes of Nailed It! on Netflix, do the opposite of everything they do.

I have never used a parchment circle and I never will :colbert:

Shortbread is only supposed to have butter/sugar/flour, no eggs at all

One-Bowl Brownies
As adapted from Lifehacker

Ingredients:

10 tablespoons (140 grams) salted butter
¾ cup plus 2 tablespoons (65 grams) unsweetened cocoa powder

This is amazingly insane because 10 tablespoons is 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons, which is fine for the next ingredient but apparently not for the butter measurement :psyduck:

In fairness, butter comes in sticks and is most easily measurable by the tablespoon.

Each stick is a 1/2 cup. Putting 1 stick+ or 1/2 cup+ still makes way more sense than by tablespoons alone, that is a bananas way to write it out.

I am looking for a good thumbprint cookie recipe, but I have some expectations:

1. I am looking for fruits and nuts.
2. Last time I did this, I remember having egg whites at hand to help bind the nuts to the cookies.
3. I also remember indenting the cookies partway into the bake, which I think gave me a butter bowl for the jam.

SEO food blog recipes are making it real hard to look up this stuff.
