Petty Officer 2nd Class Jonas Silverman, SEAL Team 21

"Sit down Mr. Silverman. This is your first time here, right? I'm glad you took your doctors advice and finally came in." The military psychologist sits in a plush chair opposite the couch that Jonas settles himself into. The bland walls and generic artwork on the walls are almost disturbing in the Jonas' eyes, so ordinary as to paint a visage that was in fact unordinary.

"Didn't exactly have much of a choice, the court martial mandated I do this. You should have been sent the records.'Innocent of wrongdoing due to lack of evidence and suspected mental instability due to the loss of his team, in need of compassionate leave and therapy, with future viability in the military to be determined after six months.'" Jonas sighs and shrugs helplessly. "They think I'm crazy. I told them what I saw, but they don't believe me. Now I get to tell you the non-classified poo poo, and you get to decide my future. So, 'thanks Doc, happy to be here, you're my new best friend.'"

The raw sarcasm in Jonas' voice doesn't even cause the psychologist to blink as he begins to page through a thick folder of papers sitting on his lap. "Jonas, I already know a fair amount. Feel free to correct me here. The 'Serendipity' issued a distress call that it was being taken over by pirates off the coast of Somalia, and for some reason NAVCENT flagged it as requiring a SEAL team to immediately free the hostages without waiting for a ransom request or negotiation. Your team was sent in within six hours, and two hours later, the 'Serendipity' was sunk, with no survivors among the hostages or pirates or the SEAL team. Except for you. You then floated alone in the ocean for two days, until Navy Search and Rescue units found you, delirious, dehydrated, and badly burned across a third of your body. Is this all correct?" The military psychologist looks down at Jonas, who had lain down on the couch while the doctor spoke.

"Yeah, that about sums up the official stuff in the reports. Official cause of sinking is an explosive going off near a barrel of fuel that had been moved out of the engine room for 'unknown' reasons. I know the loving reason. I moved the barrel and set off the explosive. I had to contain the ship, I couldn't let any of the things get off of it."

"Things?" the psychologist looks quizzically at Jonas. "What kind of things. Drugs? Weapons?" Jonas shakes his head in negation, but stays silent for a moment. The psychologist is about to speak again, when Jonas suddenly bursts out with "This is where you are going to think I'm crazy. Look, that ship, it wasn't just some cargo ship. There weren't just a few sailors on board being held hostage by pirates. gently caress, there weren't even any pirates, just... I'd say they were military or ex-military. Some kind of black ops outfit maybe. Whatever they were, they were there to guard a bunch of scientists. The scientists were working with God knows what in their labs. Full airlock systems and hazmat suits, I thought we had chemical weapons or something. We grabbed a scientist, thinking he was a hostage. He... he had something in him. Something alive. When Lee tried to whisper to the guy, tell him to be quiet, the guy opened his mouth and something just... it jumped out of his mouth and onto Lee's face. Before we could react, it loving ripped it's way through one of his eyes and just... into his skull. He fell down and started twitching, and the scientist just stood there with a bloody grin on his face. Literally bloody, whatever came out of him must have cut up his mouth pretty bad on it's way out." Jonas shudders at the memory, eyes fixed on the ceiling.

"Things went horror movie on us. We were working in pairs, comm silence as long as we could. We wanted to get as many of the 'hostages' secure as we could before trying to eliminate the 'pirates'. Otherwise pirates can kill their hostages, right? So I'm standing there in shock, looking at one of my best friends on the floor and the guy standing above him. I have my knife out, so I just... stab it into the scientist chest, drop him to the ground. Then I see if I can help Lee. So I'm crouching down, and Lee is twitching and twitching. I think he's having a seizure as he dies. But his eye, the one the thing didn't loving burrow through... it suddenly focused on me. And then they both grabbed me. Lee and the scientist, both of them just staring at me with this creepy gaze. Moving totally in synch, one holding onto each arm even though they were both on the ground. The scientist... I went for a lethal strike. But he was barely bleeding from the wound, even with the knife six inches deep in him. Both of them stood up, still holding onto me, and it was... it's like their faces had frozen in whatever shape it was in, the bloody grin on one, the look of agony on the other. They pushed me up against a bulkhead, and the scientist leaned in towards me... I think he was going to spit another one of those things onto my face." Jonas's hands cover his face for a moment as he laughs almost hysterically at the memory.

"But whatever zombie poo poo was going on, the scientist was a dweeb. No upper body strength. Lee had a grip, all of us do. You know what kind of physical conditioning we get. The moment I could think again, I threw the scientist type off of me. Lee was still holding one arm, but he wasn't responding fast, and I... I grabbed his combat knife, shoved it through his remaining eye. That dropped him for good, and gave me time to grab my gun and put another bullet in the scientists head. That... that's when I realized that I could hear gunfire elsewhere on the ship. I... I killed everyone I came across, but by the time I found the other team, they were dead. Looked like they got into a firefight, dropped a couple people, and then walked past them... and then the bodies grabbed them and made them fall. I had to put them down myself." Jonas' voice is quivering as he continues to relay his story to the psychologist, making it obvious that he is barely holding himself together as he relives the scene.

"I know zombie movies, used to love the things. I... I figured that everyone on the ship was involved in this somehow. I couldn't let anyone get off. So, I found all the rafts and put a few holes in them. We had already gotten the radio on the way in, so nobody could radio for help. I guess the other team and I had taken care of all the military types, because I didn't see any more of them. I... I saw a few more scientists, as I started setting up explosives. I killed them all, then put a few bullets in their heads, just to make sure. Then I put the explosives on a timer, grabbed a life vest, and jumped. The ship caught fire, the fuel tank and explosives made sure it was too big to put out. I got burned when something else exploded and sent a spray of burning oil out. I radio'd for help, but... the wind was enough to keep me moving, made it hard for them to find me. And now nobody wants to believe me, my report was marked down to an invented story caused by dehydration, pain and isolation."

Lucas looks over to the psychologist for the first time since he had started telling his story, expecting a look of pity or something similar. That's what he had gotten from everyone who debriefed him in the hospital. But surprisingly, the psychologist was looking impressed. "Lucas, I'm going to tell you something you won't expect. You aren't crazy. In fact... AEGIS arranged to have to sent to me for evaluation. They pulled a few strings to have your court martial come out favorably for you, and prevent you from being medically discharged. You see, there are a lot of crazy things in the world, and only a few people who have experience dealing with them. Somebody obviously tipped NAVCENT off to a fake pirate situation, so they could disrupt somebodys research into... I don't know what. That's not my job, and I wouldn't want it to be. My job is, well, people like you. Naval personnel who stumble onto secrets and then survive. AEGIS recruits people like you, from every military branch or government agency that exists. We need you to help defend the world against the things that go bump in the night."

My points will go towards...

5 Assault Rifles
5 Handguns
250lbs of C-4
40 Detonators (for the C-4)
4 suits of SCUBA gear

I would suggest that somebody else buy gas masks, just so we have them available.

I would still favor us being nobodys who get some shithole base instead of a fancy estate, even if the estate gives us free stuff. We gotta earn our awesome poo poo.

Only potential change I would make is the cargo copter instead of passenger, otherwise we have to dock places to drive the sedan and magic van off the ship.

Actually, this is a good point and I agree. But then we also need parachutes so we can drop the vans from the air. And jets to guide them! And and and...

I get that but we don't have a garage on the ship, so the vehicles are on-shore at the dock itself. We might want to invest some RPs into a small, on-shore facility maybe.

If the helicopter can carry them, they can park in the helicopter.

RULES question!

Does Cheaper (Watercraft) reduce the price of our boat base? And Werix forgot that his Cheaper (Aircraft) reduces the cost of our helicopter.

Piell posted:

Speaking of, Cheaper (X) doesn't have a minimum cost it reduces things to, so we can have all the jet skis and zodiacs we want.

"Hey guys, I heard there were, uh, lizard-people in Hawaii. Lets take the boat out there. Don't worry, we will pick up a bunch of jet ski's when we get there."

Can any of us use a missile launcher? Or interrogate someone? If not, I would suggest getting gas masks or SCUBA gear.

I can't wait to start dropping C4 out of the helicopter like the Philadelphia police.

Wait, does that make us the bad guys?

No, that makes us awesome.
