Daler Mehndi posted:Though I've not watched it all the way through yet, the Demonbane anime is toned way down from what I've seen. It works, since the visual novel was really just a super robot story with random porn thrown in. Said porn was, admittedly, hilarious in a horrifying way, because it was obvious that the CG artist didn't really give a gently caress about what he was drawing. This ultimately resulted in some rather... terrifying anatomy. The real cosmic horror isn't Cthulhu, it's what's in Kurou's pants. Regardless, the Demonbane anime is indeed toned down in a lot of ways, many of them bad. Like cutting out Metatron and Sandalphon entirely. Another thing the anime was sadly unable to adapt properly due to its very nature was how wildly things diverge after the first six or so chapters, because there was some truly crazy poo poo like Master Thereon not coming back to life because he kills the Tyrant and Sandalphon taking his place as the pilot of Liber Legis and ultimately final boss, Leica the nun turning out to be a superhero, DOKUTA WEEEESTO building an evil grimoire powered motorcycle, Kurou turning evil because of mind control and Ruri stepping up as Demonbanes pilot, Ruris grandfather turning out to be a time travelling Kurou... There's really a ton of awesome content in the VN that the anime left out. GilliamYaeger fucked around with this message at 19:16 on Nov 23, 2016 |

This is where I'm at. They tweaked Destiny twice, once in Z to improve Shinn and the overall thing and then in K to make Cagalli exist. I'm sure they'll do it again for Cross Ange. Even the cutins we've seen in the trailer concentrate on a hand pushing a lever, a foot on a pedal and then popping out with a gun and all have zero focus on the outrageously skimpy outfits they wear. Obviously that is probably only because its the trailer because its SRW and thats gonna to show up, but I live in hope it Cross Ange won't gently caress it all up.

Does SD Gundam GGG block remote play? Gundam Breaker 3 does, but Moon Dwellers doesn't. I honestly find it hilarious how PS Vita and PS4 block random features (or put watermarks on screenshots). Edit: I ordered a physical copy so I don't have it yet myself, but I saw on their official webpage that Zeta Gundam (Dijeh woo hoo) is listed in addition to the movies but I recall the mission screenshots showing A New Translation, so do they cover the movie version instead of the anime version of Zeta in the game? I'm far enough into it that I can pretty comfortably say that G Generation Genesis has a bizarrely good translation. It isn't flawless but it is good enough that if they just stuck it on the US PSN I wouldn't feel bad recommending it. I'm pretty pleasantly surprised, I was expecting it to just be Moon Dwellers quality.

It's clearly just an editing error someone didn't catch but it's amazing how utterly consistent it is.

G Generation animations usually aren't that hot, but am I the only one who feels like Genesis is even more uninspired than normal? Like Neo Zeong and Awakened Unicorn have some good stuff, but seemingly everyone else is all really bland.

i haven't had much outside of MSG yet and those all have pretty much what I expected, I'm hoping later major suits get a bit fancier. I do like that there are special animations for some support combinations, like a Phoenix and Phoenix Zero or the Gundam being supported by Guncannon and Guntank.

I thought the 3DS games were good Super Robot Wars games that had some fun diverse cast lists. Also they had secret units and characters which have disappeared in any meaningful form from the Sony games since Z.

G Gen Genesis is my first game from the series, and man there are a bewildering amount of options available. I've been muddling along upgrading stuff and unlocking things as I go (just finished the MSG storyline after a 2 hour marathon slog through A Baoa Qu), and on the whole I think I'm liking it so far. Balancing GET meter unlocks vs. leveling stuff up can get a little annoying, but most missions, I'm willing to play through again. That said, if anyone has any "man, I wish I knew this when I first got into the series" tips, I'm all ears.

UX was a bit messy and had incredibly obvious signs of animators learning things as they went along with some main character units having kinda lackluster animations and late game twin filler having really good ones (what the gently caress Andrei). BX kinda evened the whole thing out. Its only major weakness is having kind of a lame OC, which is impressive considering it's a sentient robot, but they manage to misuse it in really boring ways. But BX also has the motherfucking GIANT GORG, and GALIENT, and therefore is the best forever in my heart.

Ford/Fold, Luce/Luth, Marrete/Mallete, etc. Must've just missed the editing/sanity check pass that everything else seems to have gotten. Still, overall, the game's translation is a pleasantly surprising step up in quality from MD's. Hopefully SRWV and other future projects follow suit, but I'm not getting my hopes up yet.

The Hyperlion is like the Grungust Type-3 and Ryukooh, they deploy precombined by default and use nearly everything equipped on all of its components. You can check what applies and what doesn't from the intermission screen. Give the Vegalion a booster and the movement range of the Hyperlion should go up. IIRC everything except the ability slot parts on the subpilot and submech should apply. The SRX does count as its own separate unit but it's always worked that way for balance reasons.

Right, it takes whatever Ryu has in the R1 for ability parts but has its own (single) equippable parts slot and upgrades.

Cool Genesis tip: for the final Igloo stage make sure to have some units at the top of the map just to the left of the target area when you get the Jotunheim there. 3 battleships that you need to keep alive spawn there with extremely low health and if you do the special condition then 3 Guncannons spawn and are able to attack them right away and holy poo poo I had to sit there for an hour reloading quicksaves until they finally didn't die and that was using SFS units to try and distract the Guncannons and regular reinforcements. It was awful.
