Miles The knight continues to watch and wait, keeping himself hidden behind what large tree he can find whilst also peeking out to keep both eyes on the clearing ahead. He's no stranger to the patience required in springing an ambush so he barely notices that it takes nearly an hour before the telltale quietness of an approaching predator begins to set in. Closing his eyes, he whispers a silent prayer to the Lord for the swiftness, bravery and strength he'll need to face this new foe and protect the lives of those around him. When the words are said, he opens his eyes and reaffirms the grip on his weapon once more. Jeff On what passes for the left flank, Jeff resists the urges to fidget, to flip his knife, to bust the harmonica out, or anything else counterproductive. He wants a smoke, too - it's been a while. But there will be time enough for smokes if they don't all die, he reasons. After long enough, though, everything goes quiet enough that he can hear his own breathing loud and clear - along with a little ringing in the ears. Even he can figure out what that likely means.
