Come to think of it, the slow pace stalled out for me too. It was fun, but things moved so slowly that every failure was all the more aggravating.

drat, Shadow Warrior 2 looks dope as hell. Anyone know if a AMD Radeon HD 8400 can run anything at all modern, or should I just give up now and stick to simpler games? This is also why I haven't bought Doom. And why I'm languishing in despair over my desire for the next Ghost Recon.

Everyone should play Switch 'N' Shoot. It's extremely cheap and extremely good. Totally nails the 70s arcade shooter aesthetic without being retro for the sake of retro, and has a decent challenge. I'm hugely satisfied with it.My Steam Review posted:Switch 'N' Shoot is remarkably simple, but so fun. Hard as nails too. My amusement is matched only by my frustration and desire to get further. Seriously, it does so much with so little. It's masterful. There's not much to say about it, you just gotta experience it for yourself.

Are there any good horror shooters that succeed at being horror? I ask not because I want to play one, but because I'm interested in an academic sense. It seems like the shoter genre is inherently a power trip, regardless of difficulty, and that clashes with what makes horror work. Ergo why Doom 3 wasn't fun and Resident Evil became a silly action movie when it shifted to a third person shooter. I guess there's Dead Space, but I've heard it also succumbs to action creep by the time of the third game.
