Militaries typically like these strongman police state types just fine. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if a "moderate" faction of the military takes over and Washington quickly recognizes.

the Philippines is the most pro American country in the world, and the last coup in 89 was stopped thanks in large part to US air support but as we saw with Erdogan a coup is really hard in the age of social media because no matter how many tv stations you seize the popular president can flood the street with supporters

I don't think a coup is inevitable, he has too much public support whatever filipinos think about the US, domestic policy trends to be more important than foreign policy, and rn a crazy number of filipinos are weirdly behind his extra judicial death squads, that are totes only gonna target drug dealers we promise A coup, if it even happens, will probably fail I predict another Putin copycat, much like erdogan Seems like social media dictatorship is the new hot thing today in geopolitics, I wonder what's going to pop up next
