Ghibli movies are excellently animated, at least. Miyazaki set out with the intention of emulating Disney animation in its technical proficiency and did a fuckin' ace job of it. As far as the medium goes television-wise, it's as lovely as a ton of Western produced animation, just in a different way. I mean holy flying dog poo poo, is there anything uglier than a CG-animated TV show?

I'll go see Moana to see its water tech and I'll watch Zootopia (there's an unpopular opinion, don't much care for that movie) marveling at how just a decade prior, rendering fur was such a massive strain that they could only have one character with it on-screen at a time. And now they've got 64 types of fur they're rendering? And each character has millions of hairs? poo poo!

There are a poo poo-ton of old-time great actors, even by today's standards. Every-drat-body in 12 Angry Men, for instance. Marlon Brando, Bette Davis, Peter Lorre, Gregory Peck, Max von Sydow... Anthony Perkins was so stellar it ruined his career. And are we only considering drama here? Because It's a Mad, Mad, Mad Mad World is funnier than 99% of modern comedies. gently caress, I love old movies. I wanna watch Arsenic and Old Lace.

RE on cats: I was just reading an article on cat rentals in Detroit to cull the rat population. Spay and neuter them, absolutely, but a boatload of rodents will gently caress up your poo poo and the environment a lot more than Felix and his friends. Though in my experience, dogs are the best ratters.

(It was my sister's friend on Halloween, but you don't exactly put that together when you cynically look out the french doors to see Your Greatest Fear running toward your house.) My point is, Santa should be scarier.

They both use sci fi to amplify the loneliness and helplessness of a horror and psychological drama rather than using technology as magic.

And then yeah, the whole praising a psychopath thing didn't help. I could go out and shoot a bunch of people in the name of a safe sex worker industry and even if my ideology is just, it doesn't justify my horrific actions. I'm ranting and I apologize for that.
