I will say Twokinds is totally anime as gently caress with the story, but the characters are enjoyable. The older story is going to be a little cringy but I think he's gotten more of a hang of storytelling.
Tom may be a decent person but the characters and story are very weak. I can't recommend TwoKinds as anything except as an exercise in reading through a story that imitates very stereotypical JRPGs. However, when compared with this game, TwoKinds is a shining masterpiece in storytelling. I won't derail the thread with my criticism of that webcomic, though, but if you want to PM it later on to continue discussion I've got free time during the holidays.

Back to Major\Minor... Even with the flowchart I still can't tell what the hell the intrigue between Tiger Trump and Furry Gilgamesh is regarding espionage, mercenary work, planting evidence, and sending mail to two "assassins". Can someone do a newbie summary of this, please, and why we should care and where Rabies McCoghead fits in?

Also, whoever called this Furry Idiocracy is right: Look at what they just said. They shot all the competent, non-sparkledog furries into space in a plan to see if they die when shot into space. Sadly, they died. In space.
The Great Spacejump Forward didn't work just as planned. With all competent intellectuals and bourgeois sparkledogs dead, Chairman Maw-o wished to bring about an agrarian revolution that will usher in communism and great socialist life for all. However, the people of Terra are now all starving or dying of poverty, and elements of the one-party rule wish to find an external solution to its problems. Dissenters desire a closed-border policy to prevent barbarian dilution of the culture and to avoid immigrants placing even greater strain on the food supply. With a tavern monument in place the fury of the people could be in check... for a time.

Originally the joke was Chairman Meow but then I looked at Velasquez again and I was like... is that a dog? What the hell is that thing? For a bunch of do-not-steal OCs, it's surprisingly hard to pinpoint exactly what species each of them is supposed to be.

I can't stop seeing him as a furry version of this specific version of Gilgamesh, though. I'd like to see him rock a dreadlock beard.

I read Acheron as "Archaon" and immediately thought of this.

Watch out Rabies, you have a contender for the Power Crystals and the Holy Maiden.

I've been reading Rabies lines as being literally vocalized, not internal thoughts, and at times it works perfectly. I imagine a thoroughly refined, if somewhat affected, male British accent.
The entire update today pretty much works like this. Even the "the death of a celebrity is often commercialized" bit.

That said, Christ this game plods along so slowly. WHY is the death of a celebrity getting as much playtime as a succession crisis on a different planet?

Let's not forget that Singe is a band manager. A BAND MANAGER. With the exception of stalkers and other mentally-unstable people, musical artists are more likely to harm themselves than be killed by fans or some random murderer. I don't think even the biggest musical star in the world has to fear something that would require motherfucking automated weapons.

In what possible world would this Die Hard-esque idea even sound plausible? This really is loving idiotic.

What's going to happen is Rabies gets called into the otherworld and then when they find his cold, stiff body, Singe is gonna detonate the bombs.

Is the whole "both sides have a point, we shouldn't judge" aspect of deathtrap building and siding with Singe meant to be an offshoot of the furry community's odd fixation with neutrality and maintaining everything tolerant and accepting on the surface so no one's feelings get hurt? That's the only way I can see this entire loving plot line making some sort of twisted sense: we shouldn't judge Singe because judging is bad!

Hell, the game has already tried doing this to Velasquez and Plair the tiger Trump, excusing away their idiotic pasts and views, and seems to be trying (I think) to set up Max of Armstrong "Murder Made Magic" Inc. as a tragic figure who is going to straight up kill a person to "reverse death". What the hell!

Anyone in this thread who for some reason is interested in furries and existentialism being done well should check out Night in the Woods, it's pretty rad.

Also for something more relevant to the LP, when I first saw the screenshots I thought all the characters were just cribbed Deviantart assets or something. There's no visual congruity from design to design.
I'm actually doing an LP of NITW now because of the art style alone. The grounded story is definitely miles away from anything this game could muster.

Speaking of the congruity for the designs, only one artist drew all of them, right? I mean, that's the only consistency between them, but the biggest issue is the fact that every creature, either in Not-Earth and Terra, have their own sparkledog patterns. Are Rook and Shock related with their Shadowrun-like bolts of lightning? Are they tattoos? What's with all the fishnets? And why the hell does Singe not wear pants?

Popsicle because of several reasons.

1) Titfox was actually competent in getting us out of jail. Popsicle couldn't even escort Rabies to the palace from a goddamn tavern. Incompetence wins.

2) Popsicle can't fight half as well as Titfox. If (when) we're attacked on the road, the sweet release of death will be that much closer. Plus he just had drinks so he'll be even worse at fighting, and he may end up joining his idiot mentor.

3) We get to hear more about Popsicle's backstory... Both a blessing and a curse since reading this LP for its awfulness is why we're here.

4) Titfox may be a woman but she's definitely no Holy Maiden. Popsicle's belt fetish at least looks Final Fantasy-ish.
