Where were they in ep 4 and 5 tho. They just disappeared for the battle of yavin and werent hiding out on hoth? Like the rebellion started out tiny and got larger as the films progressed.

See, R1 actually sets up a nice explanation for this. The main fleet is decimated, what few Rebellion ships they still have are disorganized and not able to appear in ANH. ESB has the Rebels on the run, with an untold period of time between films presumably full of the Empire loving up ALL of their poo poo. Hoth is their desperate hiding place, a hopefully remote location where they can coordinate a fresh counter attack, but the Empire finds them well before that happens.

By ROTJ the Empire has apparently won, but with Hoth destroyed the last rag-tag Rebel elements have gathered, with some new ships and a new Mon Calamari admiral Akbar along to help bolster their final stand--a desperate attack against a new Death Star.

I can buy that but, honesltly, I just feel like the movie was made to plug plot holes, instead of leaving it up to imagination. I'd prefer it if the story moved forward, or they told a story that wasn't directly related to the episodic series. It fills in the gaps, but we all know what basically happened. The movie felt like fan fiction in a way that TFA did not to me. It's fine that I didn't like it though.

Check out the mods for X-Wing Alliance. They've rebuilt a ton of the older games' scenarios and campaigns, and added a ton of high poly models of dozens of new ships.

Then wait.

That's what they're going to be doing for the next decade or two. Every non-main movie year, we're gonna get a Star Wars story.

they basically don't have to build mystery, like around the "all-shark" in the transformer movies or the "Tesseractor" in the marvel universe. They have the hook so deep.

Anakin was a terrible Jedi and Vader wasn't a very good Sith, either. He brought balance to the Force by being crazy and unbalanced everywhere he went, so it's completely in-character for him to sass people while killing them.

Someday they're gonna remake the Prequel Trilogy and declare the lovely ones non canon and then we'll see the Anakin we deserve.

If Disney can track down the originals there will be. I heard a rumor that Georgie Boy destroyed them.

Nope. All the original material is most definitely safely preserved in the Lucasfilm archives, and Disney could restore and release it at any time if they either wanted or were able to. It's possible part of the terms of the sale was that Disney couldn't do that. Most people don't care, so it probably wouldn't have been a big deal for them to agree to that, especially at the relatively low price Lucas was willing to sell them the franchise.

Lucas should have held out for like double. What'd he get $5 billion? They'll have that paid off after three movies.

He got $4 billion, half in Disney stock, the other half in cash.

He had a known strong preference for selling to Disney over another studio, so that likely would have diminished his bargaining position. if it's true that he held out for things like assurances against Disney re-cutting his original six movies to either add things or revert them to previous versions, then that could have diminished it further.

This would be cool. Hopefully they keep all the art assets and stuff archived so that an actually competent director and writer can do them justice

If they're even contractually able to do re-makes of the original six, I bet they'll remake the OT first. I'm looking forward to it.

Well the whole thing in ep 4 was that the Death Star had a weakness to small fighters because they assumed they couldn't possibly do any real damage. It would have easily obliterated something like the fleet at Scarif because that's exactly what its defenses were designed for.

Mostly what needs to go is the extra scene where Han Solo talks to N64 graphics quality Jabba the Hutt and it's obvious the scene was cut because everything in it was covered better during the shootout with Greedo.

that scene is a travesty for newcomers to the series because it ruins the reveal that this nefarious mob boss that has been referenced for two movies is a giant slimy space slug. i guess at this point even people who haven't seen star wars know who jabba the butt is but still
