Archie is a long-running comic strip based on the line of the popular Archie Comics. Launched by King Features Syndicate in 1947, it features the misadventures of Archie Andrews and his pals.

Bob Montana drew the first issue of the Archie comic book (November 1942). Montana was soon drawing the Archie daily and Sunday strips for 700 newspapers.

After hours at the drawing table, Montana relaxed by sailing his Friendship sloop, the White Eagle, on Lake Winnipesaukee, and taking ski jaunts through the back country near his home. He died of a heart attack on January 4, 1975, while cross-country skiing in Meredith. Dan DeCarlo then took over the strip.

Just in time for the premiere of CW's "Riverdale," where, apparently, Archie is loving Mrs. Grundy. Edgy.

On one hand, 50s Archie is not really any different from Archie over the next several decades barring extreme cases like the new sexy teen murder mystery series or Afterlife. On the other hand, Archie is always generally really good, or at least consistently above average. God, if people keep posting stuff like Funky Winkerbean or Chickweed Lane, dropping Archie would be downright insulting.

Agreed. Plus Jaf is dropping off shortly and the Dick Tracey plot is wrapping up.
I'm aware not everyone enjoys the comics I post and I don't want to make scrolling through too long.

As the person who initially asked for the dick tracy stuff I'd like to point out I didn't ask for this plot, I asked for this era of classic dick tracy baffling nonsense.
EDIT: In fact I was kind of interested in if it started off this insane and disjointed or if it got so over time.

Does anyone know when this started? Wiki says:

On March 16, 2009, Jim Brozman began collaborating with Locher, taking over the drawing duties while Locher continued to write the strip.[9]
But the art before and after 3/16/09 seems the same. Unless you're talking about when Locher took over writing.I'm all for keeping Tracey around (tho folks would be shocked at my comics folder, as I have subfolders labeled "gay," "do it," "and he did" and "dick". Well ... maybe not so shocked).

I'm glad you post this comic, because it's arguably the worst of the vintage comics you post, reminding us that not everything comic from that era was great
You should see the dreck I leave behind - I should do a dreck post at some point. It's no Everett True, but I like the dog in today's strip. :)
