In all fairness, this is a really cool line, and probably could've gotten Kazuo a consolation lay from the CEO lady if he hadn't looked like he was about to die when he said it.

Really curious whether the Fang is supposed to be using the royal ‘we’ (which doesn’t seem to fit with the personality he’s displayed so far) or referring to his group all the time.

Anyway, go team Gaolang.

The CEOs are a pretty interesting and diverse bunch aside from their relationships with the fighters, too. You’ve got the scheming old guard (the Chairman, Nogi, scarred power company guy), ambitious youngbloods (crazy heavy industries lady, Cosmo’s boss), family heirs in over their heads (Wakatsuki’s boss, the lady who bet everything on Ohma), heads of state, shell company figureheads, and shadowy puppetmasters.

And Kenny.

For me, one of the things this manga is best at is how attacks line up with the fighters getting hurt. Rihito ripping part of your skin off is treated as a big deal. Gigantic hits like Akoya landed on Imai had an obvious toll and added to the tension of the fight. Muteba vs the crazy dude was a cringe-inducing nightmare fight. Even Jun soaking up punishment and fighting through isn't treated as him shrugging it off, he's obviously suffering, he's just bearing it.

So it bugs me that in this fight we see Raian take a bunch of gigantic huge smash attacks that in most of the other fights would have had serious consequences but instead it turns out that due to his Naruto powerup he just...didn't take any damage. It makes it harder to parse what matters in the fight when that kind of stuff happens.

Agreed. The Muteba fight in particular made it clear that ‘feels no pain’ is a very different thing from ‘takes no damage’. We’re still nowhere near Baki levels of physiological nonsense, though, and I really hope it stays that way.

Niko seems like a pretty nice guy.

Also threatening to murder the referee should be an instant DQ, the honor of the Kengan Association is at stake!

If Julius wasn't Toyo Power's guy I'd definitely expect Wakatsuki to win since it feels like he keeps being built up as the biggest physical freak in the whole world. Instead I'm guessing it's a really close fight he barely loses.

Agree on on the close fight, but I think Wakatsuki pulls it out in the end. Julius, like Jun, seems completely invested in his fighting style, to the point that he’d rather lose ‘his way’ than adapt to win.

OTOH, he didn’t seem to have a problem with completely sidestepping Sawada, and who knows what other tricks old man Toyo has up his sleeve?
