i always kinda wished there was a way to emu eq1 and just like, not have any mobs spawn at all so i could actually see all the different zones without pulling a train and having to sprint to the nearest zone barrier. i never really got to explore and the difficulty put me off from ever sticking with the game back in the day

Though I haven't played shadow of the tomb raider I did play the reboot and rise and I agree that it has a weird obsession with Lara and the mortality of what she does, both the tomb raiding itself and the mass murder, while having the gameplay entirely consisting of raiding and killing. People give uncharted poo poo but tomb raider I think is by far a worse offender in that regard. And yeah rise took me like 2 months to beat because it just heaps tons of extraneous bullshit onto you to pad out the game and it wasn't actually much fun to play. I think 8 and 16 bit games look loving awful without xbrz scaling for NES/SNES and scalefx for genesis (I use retroarch) and I don't care that it's not how it's "supposed" to look

I just use one of those lap boards and seems to work just fine. Temps in mid 70s even when playing stuff like doom or Wolfenstein at max settings 144fps  only time it ever hit 80s was trying to emulate a PS3 game lol weighs less than my old non gaming macbook too

The thing I've noticed about high frame rates is that it's really only "supported" by games in the last few years and even then only useful by fps games like nuDoom and Wolfenstein. Like, playing a lot of games it doesn't make any difference at all since animations and physics and poo poo are running at 60fps regardless of what your gpu is pumping out. And apparently most games used to tie a ton of game code to the assumption of 60fps and just flat out break if you go higher, some don't support doing so at all.

I've always been skeptical of the idea that people actually just like, browse through steam instead of just searching directly for the game they want. Is that something anyone here has really done or is it just something indie devs complain about when their game gets no traction
