i only used unity in like the first version they had it in and decided it was bad and stopped using ubungu i've had several experiences with gnome 3 though and all of them more recent so i'm gonna go ahead and say gnome 3 is even worse

Unity was trash, good riddance. Gnome 3 is hot garbage without a ton of plugins enabled to make it usable. It's like they took a mac and said 'how can we make this unusable for a person?' Xfce with dockbarx is the best.
