As IC seems to love the box launcher concept (cannot remember a single IC design with reloads) i have got to ask the question: Is it possible to design a PDC as a box launcher and if yes, what kind of alpha strike would be possible out of the tonnage of the one class of unidentified PDCs?

Wouldn t the fact that there is definitely something out there or at least was 5 million years ago create a strong impetus for all of humanity to unite to present a united front against whatever is out there? Getting all the techs and information that facility provides and then reburying it until Mars leads the solar system should be an option.
That facility waited 5 million years, a few decades more shouldn t make a difference.

I d love to sign up for captains duty on one of the colliers if there is still one available.

Fire plan for the remaining missile salvoes, we have about 19ish saloves of 40 missiles each left in the tubes once the colliers are empty.
From the fighting on Temple 1, the Exxon PDC (ground based) took 5 salvoes of 18 missiles to be destroyed, of which very little was intercepted by AMM fire.
From Rhea, the Statoil PDC (ground based) took 2 salvoes of 40 missiles to be destroyed, also low amount of AMM fire.

Titan has the damaged Einstein cruiser, 2 Exxons, 2 Statoils, 2 beam destroyers and an unknown number of FACs and smaller ships remaining.

Given that the Defensive Fire will be most effective against the first missile salvoes, and would increase in effectiveness if we pause between them, i d suggest 4 salvoes on the Einstein, followed by 4 each on the Exxons? Leaves a small reserve to deal with any surprises or the remaining PDCs/beam destroyer?

Definitely yes.

Other things we need to do:

- Decide if we can get Victory to Saturn in time for the IC counterattack
- Take out the remaining defenses on Rhea, see if we can take over the Mobile there and reload it with captured ammunition
- Refill the Eclipse with captured ammunition
- Decide which ships can be patched together in the shipyards, if we find compatible missile ammo, focus should be to get as big a salvo size of missiles in the air, so priority on the CGs and DDGs

There are a few other things that need to be taken care of parallel to the voting:
- Decide if we try to run down the fleeing enemy Einstein class that is atm 50m clicks away ( the type seems to have some AMMs, so it might not be totally defenseless)
- Take over the Rhea Mobile base if possible while destroying any active defense there that is left
- Take stock of what IC missiles are availabe, if we find missiles to refill the Musk, Mayer and the Mobile our defense capabilities increase a lot
- Find out which of our ships can be repaired before a potential engagement with the Saturn IC reinforcements, priority to the CGs and DDGs
- Send out one of our Fleet Scouts in the direction of the incoming Earth fleet (we know the IC forces coming from Uranus, the IC fleet incoming from Saturn will be identified by 3rd Fleet, so only the composition of the earth fleet is unknown.

Totally agree with Jack2142 and Frankenfreak about establishing communications with the incoming Earth fleet asap to find out about their plans and intentions. I do not think that Earth would just start a war with Mars without a formal declaration, and Mars definitely has a reason for a big assault on IC territory given what IC did to Mars.

Will we have a cb´hance to do the battle of the 3rd Fleet vs IC reinforcements or just get a battle report with the result?

The Earth ambassador already showed us pictures of people raising the flag on an unknown planet a day earlier, so we have to assume our worst case analysis of Earth being in the beginning stages of interstellar activity is true, which has huge implications on our conflict with IC, TNE material prices (suddenly not limited to what can be found around Sol) and everything.

I am also wondering where we are going to store the extra fighters from the other carrier? Do we have to ditch them?

We reloaded both squads using the remaining carrier, something we should do again as soon as the fighters are back from their cruiser killing sortie.
If we do not reach a conflict ending agreement with IC, depending on the movements of the remaining IC elements (do they follow 3rd, do they return to their Saturn approach?) we might even ferry them over to Titan if we can ensure that we can reload (slower though) at the shipyard.

So given one of the places those insurance nukes (plural) would be placed at would be the harvesters, as a sign of good faith we ask the Triumvir to point us to one of them as a sign of good faith. Then ask TFS to confirm what the guy said.

Hessi

With the Triumvir unwilling to provide proof, the main decision should be taken by the TFS, are they willing to loose their economic future and a lot of lives (the harvesters, their refinig industry) for the chance to get their hands on the triumvir. Mars should back that decision either way, as it is mainly a TFS decision.

TFS is willing to take those losses to get their hands on this guy => Unconditional Surrender

As it seems there won t be much of IC left on Jupiter to buy out, we could try it for the hostile ships on an end run to Saturn. IC on Jupiter is falling, there will be no more paychecks for the crews that allowed them to ignore the stupidity of their leaders, so if they are willing to stand down their ships, we are willing to pardon them and pay a considerable fee for finding Mars combat ships. Given how IC command send their people to the slaughter so far, and ICs suggested problems with spying/counterspying, it is worth at least a try.

Hessi

We speculated earlier in Discord that if IC falls apart after Jupiter falls , Uranus, the 3rd of ICs sorium gas giants, is a very easy picking for UT, plus it has a far smaller population of only 6 million compared to the 180 million independece minded citizens of Titan, so a lot easier to control.

Once 3rd Fleet arrives, we add a BB and a DD to our beam force, plus a number of also empty missile ships and an empty carrier. If those and the missile ships (especially the hubbles) can reload even partially, we do have a strong military presence at Titan, not enough to fight the Terrans, but respectable.

Hessi
Oct 28, 2010
First order now should be for our support ships to return. Our AOs have tractor beams and can collect the disabled ships of this fight to titan. Our hubble frigates should have first priority to reload their S1 magazines for the incoming wave of UT fighters just in case.

So far, Mars has been a champion of the will of the people, and now we consider to force the 6 million people of Uranus under Putins leadership? That might be Realpolitik, but it doesn t sit right by me. The people of Uranus should be given free choice to emigrate to Mars or TFS for some time after UT takes over at the very least. I d prefer a solution where the people of Uranus hold a referendum who they want to align with.

Definitely B.

To consider
UT thinks we have no Jump Tech, so they think we buy blind
UT offering this deal in the first place means that their first jump point leads to a good place as they want to ensure exclusive use

If we agree too enthusiastically, they could get suspicious, so we should try to push for additional consessions from UT, mainly in our claims against IC.

Further points:

- We should also reach an agreement for mutual support in case one of us runs into a really big bad Xenos.
- For the exploration of the possible other jump points, i d suggest a mixed team of Mars/UT personel on UT explorer vessels for the time being until Mars has jump capable ships officially.
- We also need to contact Swift-Tuttle (closest object to our jump point for some time) about establishing a naval base, maybe even a DSTS(??) there.
- Saros mentioned that the repair bill the Pluto Facility presented to us is 2-3 times of Mars total annual mining production of TNEs, so a massive expansion on this front seems necessary, it would help if IC payed part of their reparations in TNEs.
- Other stuff we should push for in reparations from IC in declining importance: Shipyards - Scientists - Labs (if those are transportable?) - Ships - Tech
The low value placed on tech can be explained that we captured so many examples of IC tech, we are fairly confident to being able to reverseengeneer those rather quickly.

Given that the asteroid belt in that system is beyond a circle ten times the distance of Sun-Pluto, and one of the dwarves is a quarter of a light year away, scanning the whole system on our current tech level seems to be impossible, but given it is only one jump from Mars,we should be able to send help in time.

Now would be a good time for the Facility to come out of its slumber so we can show it pictures of that planet , which hopefully will not send it into a catatonic state again.
As for colonization, for now the airless moon with 10 C celsius ambient temperature seems like the better place to colonize, while it can also serve as a base for scientists researching the runis.

For the other jumppoints, is UT willing to explore those with mixed crews on UT explorer vessels or are they currently completely concentrating on their own jump point? It would definitely feel better knowing if and where the other Solarian jump points are (and where those lead to).

Hessi

- Stop Autoshades from doing any breaking and entry, rather try to get in contact with the Facility AI again
- Use our explorers behind our own jump point only, politely ask earth if they are willing to send out a single UT scout vessel that can scout out the remaining possible jump points in Sol, our part in this mission will be to provide tanker support and a small escort, say 2DD/FRs?
- Given the breakneck speed things are developing, at what time should we contact UT asking them if their crews also experience strange phenomenon after jumping through a Jump point or if our tech was faulty? I d say we give it another 6 months to a year?

First a geological survey of the new systems inner area, once that is complete, we can decide if now is the time to reveal to UT that we are able to build gravimetric scanners by sending out one of the ships to Sol and start scanning there.

Retreat our unarmed jump capable survey ships back to the Jump point so we bring reinforcements if needed, once they arrive at the JP have one of the Hubbles turn on its sensor suite.
3k tons jump limit means we could bring in quite a lot of firepower, Hubbles, Schiaparellis, Gales, Labous and Fangs are all below that weight limit and could all be brought in case we need more firepower, so i d suggest we move a mixed fleet of those ships from home fleet to the jump point in case they are needed, for UT we could say those are ships designated to defend the jump point.

Come aboard and have dinner
At the same time, point out that the agreement about JPs means our claim to this system is far stronger, as we have access to it via our exclusive jump point, while they come through a side JP from their exclusive JP. We expect them to leave as soon as the dinner is over, and would prefer if they used the JP they came in, NOT our JP to Sol.
At the same time, rush as many sub 3000 tons ships as we can spare to the JP, this means all Gales, Labous, Fangs, Shiappas, Hubble IIs that are available. We have both shorter communication and reinforcement routes as UT, we must make the most out of it.
If we can learn about their entry JP, we can blockade it, MAD in Sol will prevent earth from trying to capture the Mars JP, which we should reinforce as much as possible anyways.

The secret of our Jump tech is out of the bag, even killing all the earth ships here wouldn t help as they certainly reported their findings back when they arrived in this system before starting to explore it.

Given that the next battles might be fought a jump or even multiple jumps away from home, giving the missile ships a backup weaponery after they run out of missiles seems prudent to me, we will run into missile logistics problems sooner or later. The chance that a missile ship is run down after a fight by an enemy beam ship is just too high and getting empty ships captured by a few enemy fighters would be just too embarassing.

I do agree with Cryo though that it should be backup weaponery, so i d replace the doom laser with 1-2 additional 15cms, upgrade the reactor if needed and use the saved weight to increase the magazine. The missile ships should try to exploit the craters that are struck by the doomlasers of the beam ships.

For the missile rate of fire, as our next opponent most likely is UT, which so far have not fielded any designs with shields that we know of, i don t think a slower rate of fire is an issue, especially given the missile ranges (we ll always be empty long before the knifefight begins).

1B, 2B:

1B: If the fight at Titan had turned out only a little different and IC had been the one with a surviving ship or two, our out of ammo missile ships could all have been run down or captured, as we didn t start fleeing with them, but rather tried to reload.
I would prefer the hybrids to have only a few long range beam weapons so they cannot be kited and can defend against light pursuit from a beam destroyer or a few fighters. They should get their big close range damage spike from a salvoe or two of torpedos instead of doomlasers so they retain more of the volume and magazine depth of pure missile boats.
This means they are less Hybrids but Missile boats with light backup laser guns and a salvoe or two of knife-fighting range high damage missiles.

2B: Going to size 4 now increases the chance we stay at that level for some time, so this generation of starships can still sling missiles with the best of them even if their engine and other techs are outdated.

Our first gate builder is also a prototype vessel, like our first jumpship was, and the engine of that one exploded after 3 jumps. The first designed gate builder ships will come quite some time later, so we are not completely relying on using gates for everything.

Voting Fray, the difference between 45cm lasers and 30 cm lasers on the dests is do i want to do 24 (penetrating 7 layers or armor) damage every 40 seconds or do i want to do 53 (penetrating 9 or 10?) every 90 seconds. If you look at our own ship designs, 95% of all ships and 100% of all ships a dest squadron should engage alone will be penetrated by either weapon. If it is able to tow a missile pod at fleet speed, that is another bonus, giving it a one time huge damage spike.

- We should urgently show the Facility pictures of the 5th planet in Rangui and get his oppinion, and tell her about the strange jump problems we encounter.
- On the Facility vote, i am with Cryo, B, if that proves impossible, reluctantly C, but we tell TFS before we tell UT and IC.
- Independent of that, we should test if cryo sleep and/or shielding ships helps to counter the jump problems, if either do, we need to design our newfleet accordingly
- On the earth vote, follow Bremens line of thinking, start the negotiations as 100% Mars ownership because of direct connection, agree to shared ownership for now, but demand compensation for our exclusive jump point system no longer being exclusive at least ( i would start the negotiation with exploring all the remaining jump points in Sol and Rangui together, and then Mars getting first and second pick). Extremely important, Earth has to access Rangui via their own jump route, not through the Martian JP (as we want to build a gate there soon).

None of the new ships are build yet, we are literally only a few weeks after the conclusion of the IC war. Saros mentioned on discord that the current fleet strenghts in the BB/BC field is about 30 terran BB/BCs vs 13 remaining Martian BB/BCs, so we most likely cannot take them in a straight up war depending on how outdated their ships are, but once we roll in newfleet with all the shiny techs from the Facility and IC that should give us the force multiplier to win with a decidedly smaller fleet.

Here is what i think Mars could live with in a final agreement with UT:
- civilian UT colony only
- military tonnage limits in Rangui that are advantageous for us, the owners of the system
- first pick on the next sol JP
- swapping survey data which we can check according to UTs proposal of free movement of civilian ships
- UT has to use its own JP network to access rangui (to drive their colonists mad, and because in a few weeks time we ll start gatebuilding on our JP)

UT should think they get a sweet deal here, as they are most likely closer to a freighter jumping tender than we are, but once we get a gate, that advantage evaporates.

Colony ships and Freighters from the civilian yards, Hubble II frigs from their 5 slipway naval yard.

- Waka Ama transporting brigades into Ranganui, wait with colonists for the gate. Once the gate in Sol is up we can station Waka Ama on the Sol JP in Ranganui to use it for return jumps of empty freighters and colony ships. This means colonists will only do gated jumps, and ship crews only one jump drive jump per trip for the time it takes to get a gate up in Ranganui

- Jump Sickness
Follow Scavys plan, tell the Ranganui colonists about it, point out that they ll only do one jump through a gate.

- Survey
Continue survey of Sol and Ranganui, emphasis on finding the remaining JPs in the system, only after that explore them.

- System Name
If we were IC, something like Exxon Mobile or Shell would be right if the giants contain Sorium, but for Mars ....
