Saros posted:Triton is an oddity as the only moon in the solar system on a retrograde orbit, i.e. is orbits backwards compared to the direction of Neptune’s spin. Many theorise this is because it is an extrasolar capture from long ago. Fun fact: because of this Triton's orbit is slowly decaying and it will pass Neptune's Roche Limit sometime in the next couple billion years. This will cause the moon to get ripped apart by tidal forces and create a really nice ring around the planet.

I assume you mean the salvagers are civilian-grade vessels (i.e. not armed or armored) in military service and not that the IC is going to target non-combatants. Because if not then things are going to get nasty.

Speaking of commands, what's the possibility of moving up to bigger ships as our tech improves? I have no idea how long construction takes in this game.

Yeah the fact that we have no idea where they came from is concerning, to say the least. Can missiles in Aurora 'go quiet' the way ships can?

Since Triton in mythology is typically associated with a trident, I put that with the Martian red and the silhouettes of the fleet's largest ships as the points. Triton the moon is in the background. It's kinda lovely but I am bad at arts. Bonus low quality mission badge/patch:

Crazycryodude posted:Yeah this is great. Though Triton would probably be better as an icy blue sphere, to avoid confusion with Titan. I actually completely forgot that Triton and Titan were different things. e; Crazyeyes24 posted:Great concepts, all I would change in the first is to straighten the two outer arms of the trident out so they look more like engine trails and less like a trident with ships superimposed. The patch looks pretty spot on though. Do we have a sketch of what a Deimos looks like? Maybe use that as the points for the patch? Ok I did a bit of tinkering, feel free to edit these or whatever. Made Triton a bit bigger (also blue) so it doesn't get obscured by the now straighter trident. The only picture of a Deimos in the OP is from the side in the big ship lineup so I just guessed on a basic shape for that. There's plenty of room for terrible Latin on the patch, and I was briefly debating putting in a google translate of 'your phrase here' but . Of course, given that this is an interlogue and nobody in the fleet actually knows about it yet I doubt we'll be able to do anything until it's too late and Cthulu or whoever is eating the sun.

Well, we might be able to find some things out from the ruins, but that means going through wherever jump points go again, which may not be the best idea right now. I'm not sure whether or not the UT finding out about the horrible space monster by trying to jump a whole bunch of ships is possible, or if it's only repeated uses of the jump point that caught it's attention.

The thing with waiting to fight UT later is that iirc their industry outweighs us by a factor of a lot. Unless we can find a way to mitigate that advantage whenever they do come for us it'll be a curbstomp. This assumes Putin wants to take us out instead of keeping a neutered Mars around to have as a scapegoat for whatever. Fakeedit; That's not to say we should nuke everything, but we really need more of a plan than 'wait a bit'
