There was a pic of some dumbass filling multiple 50 gallon trash cans with gas in the bed of his pickup, and the outrage was he was taking all the gas. I scrolled through like 200 comments and didn't notice any outrage that he was risking a fiery death for everyone around and gave up.

I have to admit, the local Porsche dealer knows how to put on a show. Tech demo's by Pirelli Tires provincial sales rep, they flew in a project engineer from Brembo Italy to answer any questions we had and explain how Porsche and Brembo developed their carbon ceramic brakes. Followed by the unveiling of the latest RWB 964.

Wow I love that color, how was it in person?

Buddy of mine bought one of those Capris for $650 when he got back from a deployment. Turbo and a 5 speed so it was at least entertaining. We just thrashed it and essentially treated the throttle as a binary switch. It was a hateful little turd, but it managed to survive our abuse.

Those Capri's are nowhere near as bad as people making them out to be. And yeah no poo poo no one fits in the back seat did they criticize Porsche for this in the same era?

Have cousins in Naples and they say there is already NO gas/propane/water available to buy.

Have friends who live on a boat in the keys. They sailed it to a mangrove cove, tied it up, rented a car and just hoping there is a boat to come back to.

Has anyone had any experience with Monster Transmission? I recently bought a 2005 Silverado 1500, 2wd, 5.3L (aluminum block in place of the stock 4.8L), with a slipping transmission (4L65E) from my friend for $1700. Every local shop I've called wants to pull the trans for me and rebuild it to a ballpark of $3500-4000 or else they wont warranty the rebuild. That or the warranty is reduced to 30-90 days depending on the shop. I'm planning on pulling the transmission and either spending a bunch of extra time rebuilding it, possibly loving it up, and not having a warranty but saving around $1k, or Getting the Monster heavy duty 500hp transmission for about $1600 after core charge.

Thanks for any insight. Here's my cat Beavis in a box.

No clue but literally 10 seconds on eBay I see trans for $700 as pulls to $1500 rebuilt explore your options. He'll find a pick and pull and get one for a few hundred bucks. They are smoking crack asking $3500+ to rebuild one of the most common trans

Not being condescending but I would first focus on eliminating the problem that causes the dead battery rather than just jumping the car for the rest of her life

Edit: I mentioned some friends tying their boat up in the keys and evacuating. They did so and came back and there boat is intact and survived the storm, except for SOMEONE loving LOOTED ALL THE BOATS IN THE COVE AND TOOK EVERYTHING OF VALUE. Man all these people just lost everything they didn't take with them. In a loving mangrove cove!

You can sleep in a car all night with the a/c going just crack a window to be sure don't if you have ever smelled (this word seems wrong typing) gas or oil fumes. Can you get a hotel?

And yes the people I know who's boat broken into it is so crazy. They think it must have to be another live aboard boat person who else could loot all these boats?

What size generator would run 2-3 small electric heaters? Also I have a 1980's kerosene heater is it safe to use inside in an emergency?

everdave

Thanks for generator/kero heater info all. I tried to run one tiny heater off a car in dryer and it wouldn't even attempt to do it during an ice storm when we were out for 2 days. I have parents old kerosene heater now just in case to keep us safe (though now I have the means I'd probably just go to a hotel).

Well I'm not sure why you want to trade in a 3 year old vehicle but technically you cleaning it would not affect their offer as they just plug that poo poo in an app and spit out the results but if you can't be bothered to clean it out I'd imagine they'd smell blood in the water.

All of the sudden car (2001 Taurus) sounds sluggish when starting. Wife just lost her keys and had to take the kids to unlock car and it barely started (sounded like an almost dead battery) except I got it to start and it runs normally and no voltage warnings. I know it just got a new water pump and I can see if I can get more service records.

What are you looking for in a vehicle? Looking at a $9k 9 year old vehicle I'm kinda wanting to suggest you look into putting 5-9k down on something new in the 15k range.

Anywho... gently caress Comcast. I had internet installed exactly a week ago this morning and it hasn't worked yet except for like 10 minutes immediately after the guy installed it and left.
I've had someone out to my house 3 times now and a fourth appointment where nobody showed. What in the actual gently caress are they doing? How do you have 3 techs give me 3 different answers and leave without any sort of resolution or even give me a loving follow up. I've had to call customer service every goddamned day and start all over.

I won’t go into details but I had a year of hell in a previous residence. Turns out because I had the most basic poverty cable but decent internet whatever “trap” they had on the line preventing good channels blew out within hours of being replaced.

Growing up when we had AT&T@Home (like 1999 or 2000), when cable internet was really new for our area, we saw a line filter like that on our box. The installer had done a poor job, so when it rained water had gotten into the box and into that filter. The tech that came out to fix it just took it out and left, and our internet stayed up and speeds improved and suddenly we had a lot more channels. That tech was cool.

After a long period of hell one dude just removed it and same
