the blood kiss strigoi do have upkeep reduction afaik. and black coaches are good for autoresolve, hate using them in combat

your heavy hitter is your lahmia lord riding a dragon, and vargulfs/terrogheists. you only need a couple at most. since you can run a billion necromancers now as vc, you should always have a wind of death available in any stack. i had a lahmia lord defending kislev from every single chaos invasion stack by herself with grave guard, necromancer, terrorgeist and a couple crypt horrors. pick a corner and hold, if they have hellcannons you can tangle them up with a flyer but honestly once you hit a certain level it doesn't matter much, just regen whatevers getting hit and you're fine. perfect vigor is the real deal.

I'm really curious what kind of new units the DLC will include for the Wood Elves, since they basically have everything (barring Spellweaver generic lords and Shadow Dancer heroes) from 8ed already.

Are Black Coaches any good? As i get a bigger and bigger empire as VC the "trash army and hammer army" strategy is getting less tenable as I need to defend more territory and I haven't committed to, like, just all skeletons with Wind of Death yet, so I'm trying to transition to make my former trash armies a bit more autonomous, even if they can't do too much. The solution to me seemed to be Mortis Engines since they bolster Winds, support skeletons, heal them, and sap health in ways that seem to work well with the longer grind while the Lord (ideally Lahmian) and two vampires kill poo poo. But if I go for red line skills for skeletons and Mortis Engines, I don't have much else in terms of heavy hitters and I've never really used Coaches. They good? Terrible?

Also it's a shame that Strigoi don't have upkeep reduction for ghouls/crypt horrors like other lords do for their units.
Re Black Coach: They're good if you have the patience to micromanage them. They need to be cycle charged constantly to be effective, even if it is through your own troops. I have not used them often but a few times i used them sorta like skirmish cav.... get a few units following it off to the side of the battle and just charge through those units, making sure to never get bogged down.

As for Strigoi, they do, but its weak, much like their BL lord:

The skill two to the right, Grave Eaters, gives the same upkeep reduction and a +1 recruit rank to Ghouls. It really should be 50% or more, and they dont get Arcade Condiut.... they isntead get 15% better magic item find! Also their spells are pretty much Lore of Death with like two changes.

It would be cool to get a VC legendary lord that isn't a Vampire or Necromancer. Just some kind of monster. Not even necessarily a Strigoi Ghoul King kind of guy.

Nice, thanks. I was excited to use Necrarchs as super-casters and then realized they can't get Winds of Death which means I'm putting necromancers into my army and I don't know if I can do that. Shame about Strigoi. Might still try one, but von Carstein and Blood Dragons are so nice in part because they cut upkeep for their key units by like 40-50% ( And in vC case, make bats free).

Lahmians and von Carsteins are both neat (Lahmians basically never fight a stack with hero support or one at full health) and Blood Dragons are powerful as hell but pretty much run just blood knights and skeletons/grave guard as economy allows. I'd love a ghost specialist (Necrarchs?) and like how they all feel decently different on the battlefield.

E: I probably should use more necros in-army instead of kiss and research farming.

one funny story from the lore is that Mannfred got killed at hel fenn one time and was Brought Back by a necromancer.

so the necromancer had kidnapped a classic Virgin Maiden to sacrifice to revive mannfred, but unfortunately gotrek and felix showed up and kicked the necromancers rear end, rescued the girl, and chopped the necromancer in half.

the necromancers blood spilled onto mannfred's corpse after gotrek and felix had left. mannfred looked at the scene he'd woken up to and was like 'huh i guess that necromancer never hosed'

mannfred was revived with incel blood which is probably why he eternally plays the virgin to vlad's chad.

But anyway no the von Carsteins should go back to being cooky draculas and not tryhard scary vampires.

She was some charcoal burner from a small town and now she's running around occasionally wasting other Von Carsteins that threaten to reveal her secret and having the time of his unlife being a fancy noble while trying to learn to read before someone notices.

At least that's in the RPG, but I like to think it's canon because Ariette Von Carstein rules.

Actually playing my first actual game since the patch. There's been a ton of unlisted changes to campaign items .

Defensive items (% resistances and ward saves) have been nerfed across the board by a few percentage points. Weapons now have stronger effects across the board. I'm sure there's more.

It's still somewhat annoying that they don't even state that there was changes items even if they don't want to enumerate all of them.

Did the Waaagh get marked as complete or did you just conquer your target? (That is, do you still have your extra armies?) The units don't pop up until it's over over, and will be available in your RoR pool forever. They're also bankable so you can just have multiple fire araknaroks or whatever in your RoR pool until you need them/can recruit them.

What's bullshit is that completing a Biggest Waaagh doesn't give you the rewards for a Bigger and regular Waaagh too.

that rules. a lot of my favourite warhammer stuff comes from the fantasy flight rpg games. they did most of the initial art that actually included female imperial guards for 40k and stuff, and their black crusade RPG does a lot to flesh out the chaos faction as something more interesting than 'evil space demon guys'.

I stayed occupied in the province capital for the requested turns (next time I should just raze the capital or reload from when I started the waagh and do that so the dwarves don't take too many of my provinces) and the regiments of renown button says "you cannot acquire regiments of renown at this time" even though I have the waagh units are sticking around for one turn icon at the top of the screen.

If I'm reading it right, the Waaagh isn't over yet, because you've still got Waagh units (for one more turn). Finish the turn. Also you can only recruit RoRs in home territory.
