My guess why we don't see it much anymore is that if the catcher has enough time to receive the ball and make a legal block they're probably in pretty good position to protect. Also managers/owners don't want their players getting injured on a high risk play.

this game was loving winnable if they could get more than one goddamn hit in an inning it's hard to get too upset, dodgers were clearly the better team, pretty amazing to make it back to the NLCS.

So with how good/rested the Dodgers seem to be at this point in the season, will other teams likely start to use the DL rule change similar to what the Dodgers did this season in order to rest regulars, or will MLB clamp down on it? Honestly just curious, not criticizing, since it does seem like they're easily the most rested team of the four remaining.
