Wakanda is Spider-Man. When Wakanda got his powers he was selfish and used his powers for his own gain. Then uncle T’Ben was killed by someone Wakanda could have stopped, if it had acted responsibly earlier in the movie. After a period of felling anger and seeking retribution, Wakanda came to the realisation that with great power comes great responsibility.

Trial by combat also sort of cements the patriarchy which is a bit poo poo, although the royal guard are all female so maybe they rule occasionally?

Black Panther is Inside Out for Africans in a post colonial world. Wakanda is T'Challa's control centre, all the characters are emotions, all of them are justified and all of them are needed.
