It's a low fantasy game in which you run a small company of mercenaries (like 18 dudes I think) running around and performing various errands and dying hopelessly so that the company can limp on! Hopefully some day you end up making enough that you can even do things like equip them with actual good armor/weapons! And you can even specialize mercs in various ways thanks to perks and skills. But the bottom line is if you play this game with me there is a very good chance that you will die horribly in some fight nobody will ever remember to a creature that a proper RPG demigod would murder with foul language alone. Also I probably suck horribly and am open to advice from more experienced players as we go along. What do you do in Battle Brothers? Your mercenary company basically roams the land fighting stuff and picking up jobs from various villages and cities. There's rudimentary trade available in the sense of buying low(ish) and selling high elsewhere, but a lot of those goods are expensive. There's factions in the land as well that remember how you've dealt with them and will offer jobs themselves. These factions have territory and troops and all that. There's also eventually one or more (depending on settings) endgame events like an undead uprising, a huge war between factions, or a giant horde of orcs invading. But the overall goal is to just fight, grow stronger, and survive. This is a low fantasy setting so magic isn't an everyday thing but the supernatural is there in the form of undead including ghouls, zombies, skeletons, and vampires, necromancers, as well as shamans and stuff. There's also various locations to attack and loot like crypts and abandoned churches and stuff that are home to horrible death machines. But our boys are just mundane fighters. A bunch of poo poo-kicker sellswords just making a living by the dead flesh of the enemies they were hired to fight. So how's this thread work? It's a GBS Let's Play, so basically I'll play the game and consult with thread participants (mostly the current merc roster but I'm not above taking outside opinions and anybody is free to post). Basically if you want in you just say so, and I'll add you to the list. Keep in mind that Battle Brothers allows a max of 18 (12 active fighters and 6 in reserve), and posters on the current roster of living mercs are obviously going to get more say in decisions. But here's how it works roughly: 1. Generally I equip newbies with a spear and shield, just something to keep in mind. This is because spears have a bonus to accuracy and allow the spear wall ability, also shields help keep their sorry newbie asses safe. 2. If you want in just post ITT and let me know.
