HVAC chat: Mine is acting weird. When the outside temp is under 85, I'm measuring a 14 degree differential between intake and output. Condo will sit at 74 all day, but will run in low stage all day. When outside temp is above 85, I'm measuring a 10 degree differential. Condo will sit at 76 all day long but HVAC will run in high stage all day long. Will not go any cooler. Rooftop unit not showing any signs of icing. Electric bill is not out of line - $200/mo for 1700 sq ft.

I dropped a 100 ft hose off the roof and connected to the perma-mount 50 ft hose the landscapers use. An hour of chocolate soup and boogers later, they're clean. Or at least not draining chocolate soup. I have a technician coming at some point this afternoon. Readings right now at 94 degrees are 75.7 and 65.1 so about a 1/2 degree improvement after the cleaning. I'm going to shoot the HOA group email a note that I have a hose up there in case anyone else wants to clean theirs before I drop it off the edge. Mine wasn't the worst looking up there or even in the worst quartile

I have gigabit internet and my break even point on BYOM and router is 4+ years. And having to argue with Comcast that the issue is not my equipment. I'll keep paying my $10/mo

So the HVAC tech put in a lb of refrigerant in yesterday, we were seeing 56 at the vents when he left. This morning, we're back to 63. Thursday morning we get to play leakfinder.

Wait until you try the tossed salad. It's way better than fluffed cheese. HVAC chat: I won the war with the home warranty, they're installing a brand new system in about 2 hours. The only thing keeping the refrigerant in was clots of oil. 8 lbs of r22 in 6 weeks is evidently the magic cost number where they cave. I'm buying a lottery ticket tonight.

PhD talk I have a former coworker who is a PhD in Computer Science from NC State. I've had recent undergrad interns who were higher performing. About a year into the job, HR actually validated she completed herPhD program. Somehow. For what it's worth, the manager who hired her was demoted to an individual contributor shortly thereafter. I also had the opportunity to hire an all-star developer who had amazing experience but no college degree. The person we ended up hiring had a degree from a well known college mill. He is as underwhelming as the college mill, but bah gawd he did his time and got his degree
