there was a story going around last night about tesla getting an update and i thought there's no way that's real: https://mathstodon.xyz/@sc_griffith/109587584669456676 so i dug and the update happened on dec 20th: https://www.notateslaapp.com/software-updates/version/2022.20.12/release-notes quote:Speed Assist  speed assist: https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/model3/en_us/GUID-5D3D4014-4E98-45D7-8BBC-F76BCA9CEC05.html okay so it just warns you about speed limits and lets you change the window for warnings and has a 10s timeout after a warning. wait i glossed over a note  so relative and absolute speed limit changes, but this only affects a warning chime, and the traffic-aware cruise control right? speed assist has to be a restricted driving feature just for this highway-specific feature right?  about autopilot: https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/model3/en_us/GUID-EDA77281-42DC-4618-98A9-CC62378E0EC2.html turns out that's the basis for all of autopilot's logic and that "set cruising speed" affects: autopilot, Traffic-Aware Cruise Control, Autosteer, Navigate on Autopilot, and Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control. it's explicitly an "active safety feature"?!
