you do something like starting to bring kids to the high school with routes starting around 6:30, get the kids in, you go back out for the middle school, return, then you go back out to pick up elementary kids so the morning finishes around 10 maybe.

then you have to be ready for the high school kids to start getting out at sometime after 1:00 but before 2:00, and then you do the same cycle of progressively lower grades. and at least some of the drivers are doing things like the shift between morning and afternoon attendance for schools that do prek/kindergarten part time, you have later activity buses for the middle school and high school kids with after school clubs and sports

plus if you don't have a regular schedule involving mid-day students being cycled out, you're instead likely to be on the hook to haul kids over at other schools for a field trip or two, or you're even heading back to the depot to run one of those 20 passenger minibuses for airport shuttle use or something.
