Legendary Trials (Nova, Black Cat and Green Goblin Classic)and Horsemen are now on a permanent rotating basis, every week. Which means that to get shards, you need to hit a milestone instead of getting both milestone rewards and participation leaderboard awards. And the milestones don't reset, so you are forced to build the required teams to high levels to max out your characters instead of just playing and slowly getting something.
