You have a bow, a sear and, well, two swords. You just need a samurai armor and you will look like a proper Samurai!

Anyway, about the enormous spears, the twice the length of a man spears are way big, but it's also worth noting that spears in Dark Souls are tiny. The pike is reasonable long if it was called spear instead, the spear called spear is a joke.

A lot of polearms were pretty swissy by themselves. They would have a spear point or spike, something to hook enemies with, two of either a beak, an axe like thing or a hammer head, and may even have a spike on the other end as well.

There are indeed a lot of different polearms, they were after all the preferred way of fighting in melee by most. This includes the Samurai, their Katana was only their tertiary weapon in the battlefield, after the bow/musket and their polearm. With that in mind, it makes sense the polearm would get a lot of attention. That said, the straightforward spear had a very long run though.

Anyway, there were spears longer than twice that of a human, but within the context of this game, they make no sense.
