Also for that reason the permanence of events is super frustrating. Like, I was just having a shoot off with some Mexican guy and in between rounds I went to reload and oh, Arthur put his gun away cause he just does that whenever he wants, so instead of reloading I shoved the guy which aggroed him and caused him to start shooting me. I just let him kill me in the hopes of finishing the mission but he’s gone now, of course. I feel like that kind of poo poo happens way too much and it’s so frustrating.

This thread moves too fast but they definitely respawn. I killed the poor mexican sharpshooter by accident the first time around and he still came back a week later to do the same quest.

one time, I spent my last $7 on a stagecoach to valentine from strawberry. figured I'd nip to the toilet whilst arthur gets in. i got back from the toilet to find arthur still in strawberry, standing outside the coach, with the coachdriver nowhere in sight. I had to sell a bunch of stuff to be able to fork out the $7 again.

anyone have any idea what happened to the coach driver? I'd just paid the fare and figured it would be automatic like it normally is.

I had the same happen once, looked away after accepting the ride and when I looked back the wagon driver was running away for his life and arthur was just standing around. Got some sort of a bounty too.

Halfway thru chapter 2 you get the fishing pole, I think you should be good to go then

Is this legendary alligator some kind of a special legendary? I'm pretty sure I went thru the map and all 14 legendary animals were there with no alligator in sight. I suppose non super spoilery answer hopefully.

Anybody else with this 'problem'?

It just doesn't show it right, keep dragging and it will pop up completed at some point. Also I found out it doesn't matter if your victim dies during it, just keep going.

I am sure its been said many times here, but I just finished Chapter 6.

I have never really once in my life given two shits about a video game story or its characters at all. It all feels like Shenmu. You want to get into the characters and story sometimes, but just can't because the writing just isnt there, or the character creation in RPGs is so open, you have to make up some BS personal lore story.

I laughed out loud at parts of this game, had moments where I yelled "WTF", was gob smacked by how cruel and unforgiving some self inflicted situations were, and actually welled up and shed some tears at the end of chapter 6. I feel like this game is a better story than what I consider to be the gold standard films. I am just in awe at the perfect balance of player freedom and story telling that it presents. I know things will change after chapter 6, and much of the experience I had in the main story is a singular event that I will never experience like the first time and the whole thing might be just another game in online play.

But mother of god, that is some absolutely phenomenal story telling, and character development. It was so amazingly easy to suspend my disbelief through most of the playthru.

Well said, just finished it myself. Also I'm really happy this thread didn't spoil anything major.

Anyone have location/hunting tips for panthers? I've looked up the two locations the guide says they spawn in but they must also be super rare or something.

Close to braithwaite manor, here's a reddit link:

You might need to try multiple times to get a perfect one though.

Unfortunately that's where I've been hunting. I think I found the spawn point because I stumbled across the panther just chilling there both times I've seen it. It's just been a poor quality. I didn't even think about save/reload... that'd probably be a lot smarter. I'll do that the next time. Taking the night off because I've wasted so much time trying to get the last three stupid pelts for finishing off the satchels. Just need panther, beaver, and (another) elk... I imagine beavers aren't as bad and I've already found a spot for elk out near the western-most trapper.

Thanks for the responses!

edit: nvm

The first 5-10 hours of this game were so hilarious because of the bad controls. I met the mexican sharpshooter guy outside chapter 2 camp and after hearing all of his speech I just shot him in the face by accident.

Luckily the game makes him appear again.

Is it always gold though? I think it only costs gold to skip the level requirement. Someone said that earlier too.

Requiring level 17 to fish and 30 to use lures is itself dumb but that's rockstar's MO.

Level 14 to fish.

Also you make so much more money with the river lure that it's ridiculous to whine about 1g/rank30 unlock.

Edit: You never lose the lure unless you're super bad at fishing. You actively have to push a button to risk it.

Is there a way to determine where I start or lock in my location from when I log out?

You can choose the starting region by taking one of the area named free roam options. (Free roam lemoyne, free roam new hanover etc)

Regarding spending a gold for the lure. It’s not like gold is limited. You can farm hideouts to get maps which get you between .5 and 1g. They’re good XP and often have loot besides.

It takes literally one second to open the map and see every other player. Plan accordingly.
