COME EARN YOUR WAY TO VAST RICHES IN OPEN SPACE!

We're looking for strong willed men, women, and things, of any species or disposition to crew the premier and flagship freighter for CORELLIAN EXPRESS Ltd, on what will undoubtedly be a PROFITABLE venture. Interested parties may inquire at our main office just off of Treasure Ship Row in beautiful Coronet City on Corellia!
Those who don't ask too many questions preferred. Open warrants with the Empire may or may not be a hindrance to application acceptance.

(Note: You may or not be flying a YT-1300 class of ship)

OOC RUNDOWN:

This is a recruitment thread for a straight EDGE OF THE EMPIRE campaign I've had kicking around and would like to run LIVE via Discord. The games will run on the weekends, either Saturday or Sunday afternoons EST starting sometime after October 1st and will run either weekly, biweekly, or monthly, depending on what works for people. The sessions will hopefully run for 4-6 hours, and as this is a one-off campaign it could take up to a few months to complete, though if the players would like to continue with the campaign afterward, that may happen.

The premise of the campaign is that you're a small shipping company based out of Corellia, tasked with a shipment job that could be lucrative as hell, but also could be risky and dangerous. Along the way you'll have to take some random jobs to help pay the way. While your company is a legitimate company that does legal work on paper, some moral flexibility may be an asset (or hindrance, depending) for the job.

Looking for 4-6 players. Previous FFG Star Wars experience is not required, and if you've never played the game please say so, as new players are welcome!

Character Creation Rules:

- We will be using Edge of the Empire primarily, so keep that in mind. No Jedi, though Force sensitivity is okay depending on what powers you want to take.
- This game is set BEFORE the Rebellion even exists, at the height of Imperial rule, over a decade before any of the events of A New Hope happen. As such, Age of Rebellion careers/specs aren't necessarily disallowed, however if you choose to dabble with them it MUST be in the context of either being in the Imperial military or even part of the Old Republic. You also MUST mix in an EotE career or specialty somehow.
- If you want to have a Force Sensitive character, use the EotE rules and specialty, not AoR or FaD.
- We will be using Obligation, you will need to have a minimum of 10.
- No race limitations, but be reasonable within the bounds. An Ewok isn't likely to get picked, as an example.
- Create your starting character as per the default rules. Take 10 points worth of Obligations and give yourself the starting exp for them. If you choose to take the Force Sensitive spec, it needs to be done here, not later. You can take an extra 5 points of Obligation if you want, but will get money for them, not exp.
- Add 100 character exp on top of that as regular exp, to be spent using the usual rules for cost. This exp cannot be used to boost Attributes. Add some sort of quick and dirty accounting for how you used this exp.
- Give yourself 8,000 credits worth of personal equipment. No disruptors and no lightsabers. If you took the extra 5 points of Obligation, give yourself an extra 2,000 credits for a total of 10k.
- If your Obligations are involved, for example you have a criminal history or are ex-military, make sure to detail the backstory and get into it in your post.
- Because you are a crew, state clearly in your post what the ideal position you'd like your character to fill would be. List any secondaries afterward. You will need to have, at minimum, a Captain, someone who can navigate, someone who can pilot, and someone who can keep the ship running. There could be multiple people to fill all of these roles except Captain, and the roles could obviously overlap (Captain is also the Pilot, for example). You will be much better off if you're good at doing a bunch of things rather than being REALLY good at a couple things.

Character selection will happen sometime around Sept 28-30, 2018.

Discord link for where the game will happen/if you have questions or want to discuss ideas with other applicants. Joint applications are fine, just make sure to each post your characters independently and limit them to a joint app of 2 characters, not more than that.

Link to the FFG Star Wars thread which has lots of info about the system, as well as links to the character creator program and example characters.

Interested. I'll likely make some sort of Face because I'm a talky bitch. Also, I ran EotE a while ago and found a really great virtual table on Tabletop Simulator that has all the special dice, character reference sheets, a DM screen, etc. So that could be useful if everybody has TTS.

CLARIFICATION FOR APPS:

Since the format of the OP is a little IC/OOC, just to clarify, you guys will jointly be the owners and operators of the company... so jobs come your way, you pick them, you negotiate, you're all in it together, as a crew. If the details matter that much to you OOCly, I dunno, just assume you're all equal partners or something. Point is, you have a small shipping company and a single freighter, and you're making ends meet under the Empire.

Rassk, Marauder/Cybertech, qualified medic and mechanic.

Character Sheet (PDF)

All fluff is on the sheet.

In brief: Rassk needs to get off Corellia fast. What the hell, he's never been to.. Hayps? Hah-pes? Whatever.

Background:
Rassk is the youngest of a well-to-do family from Hsskor, the Trandoshan homeworld. He's a very traditional Trandoshan: obsessed with finding bigger and badder challenges to prove he's even tougher than they are, and in the mean time he'll take on anything else that people are willing to pay him for. Most families would be distressed by a son who decides to hurt people and break things for a living, but most families aren't Trandoshan -- his parents couldn't be happier.

While he's recently fallen in with some of the more "aggressively direct" segments of the New Order's intelligence apparatus, Rassk already has an intimidating history of solo bounty work and one-off hires as a compliment to various mercenary units, including some kind of bank job that nobody seems to be able to get a straight answer on.

When you want someone brought in alive, he's not the man to call. When you want a whole wall demolished and everybody behind it to die no matter how hard they try to fight back, you call Rassk. That's not to say he's just a thug, since he maintains his own gear and is even a qualified combat medic (and cybernetics enthusiast) but it's what he's best at.

Rassk has two notable siblings: his older brother runs a relatively famous mercenary company, and his twin sister is an absolutely vicious fixer in the corprate sector known as "the skinner".

Recent events:
Rassk is wanted in a number of civilized systems for the various violent crimes that go with being a professional hitman and mercenary who doesn't really care what the local laws are or who enforces them. He doesn't really care who his employers are, either, and he's known to a few people as a reliable Imperial Intelligence asset. They've used him before to get rid of people they don't like, or to add some muscle to an operation.

Since he's an Imperial asset he's been able to slip the noose so far, but he can't go back to Corellia right now. Or anywhere that takes Corsec warrants seriously, which he can neither confirm nor deny is linked to a mysterious massacre of a meeting of anti-government organized crime figures and corsec operatives. Whose friends are, at this point, understandably annoyed.

If Rassk feels like making this go away, he'll have to bribe the right people, do some more black bag work, or just put the fear of him in them.

:10bux: Loto Vask, Entrepreneur - Captain / Paradigm Strategist :10bux:

Character Sheet

Saturdays and Sundays are good, afternoons preferred but evenings workable

Background:
The Vasks are an aristocratic family of Pantorans who've served members of the Pantoran Assembly for generations. Though born on their homeworld of Pantora, young Loto Vask's family moved to Corellia to assist with the founding of what is now known as Buy'n'Save Corporation, an enterprise designed to discreetly funnel wealth into the coffers of the Pantora government.

Loto started his first business brewing beer and selling it to other minors from his private school. When he was busted, his family's connections made the record go away, and with a little help from his father Loto persuaded a distributor to buy the recipe with a modest royalty clause.

Despite his family's gentle nudges toward finishing graduate school, Loto naturally gravitated toward business. A magazine he founded showed promising success, so he focused his efforts on developing it. Called Afficionado, the periodical is dedicated to the appreciation of fine spirits and other luxury goods. Rumors circulate about how Loto was able to personally establish the key marketing partnerships and branding strategy that would begin to unsettle his top competitor. Some say he simply leveraged family connections, others that he made a cunning show of discrediting his rivals. In either case, it is certainly true that Loto poached key staff from established publications which skewed their revenue trajactories. Having built a talented team to run the business for him, he's now placed it on autopilot to work on a special project for his father's company, Buy'n'Save Corporation.

BSC is making big moves to buy out a majority share in the Corellia system's distribution networks. In order to obfuscate its true hold on the market, BSC has instituted a policy of soft buyouts, creating distributors that are independent in name only. Though a one-ship outfit wouldn't usually be in BSC's sights, Loto's father arranged for a purchase of a share in Corellia Express to give him a chance to prove himself, and put a notch on his belt on his way up the corporate ladder.

"Calico" Zalac'ali'coptic, Chiss merchant of death (Smuggler - Scoundrel)

Character Sheet (pass 2)
for the position of ship's accountant and quartermaster

details and fluff included in character sheet.

as for days time, I'm free on Sundays and not free certain Saturdays.

Background:

Over 8.3 quadrillion blasters in the galaxy means one blaster per twelve sentients; Calico wonders how to arm the other eleven. Calico began his career selling broken or stolen charric to poor settlers on Ascendancy frontier worlds. As the Ascendancy noose tightened around Calico’s neck, he fled for the greener pastures of Imperial Space, where manufacturing was cheap and plentiful, and everyone wanted a slice of the pie. Imperial Space would be a paradise for the fleeing Chiss, a land of overbearing military might strung along by a decaying infrastructure and a bureaucracy more concerned with perpetuating its own existence.

So Calico committed his first crime other than weapons trafficking, he stole a number of data tapes about Imperial and Hutt Space and did what any right-thinking Chiss would do, he studied about the Xeonological and Social structures he would face in his way. Armed with his knowledge, Calico made his break onto the Imperial world of Sartinaynian, where he negotiated a deal with Imperial bureaucrats to skim E-11s out of military shipments and made his first sale in Imperial Space. Having made his first successful run in Imperial Space, Calico was ready to enter the big time, have it all, and become the Aristocra of War he was meant to be.

Things would have been great for Calico, had his species not caused him to be targeted by Imperial Customs as a supplier of arms to the Rebellion. While the investigation would reveal no rebel ties, Calico would continue to rot in an Imperial penitentiary until this offer, one the self-described “Aristocra of War” could not dream of letting slide. Calico is ready to help Imperial Intelligence fully and cooperate with the operation utterly in order to earn his way out of his current situation, and honestly, anything is better than cooling his heels in the pen without a plan or a support network and so very far from his home.

A strange trip into and out of Hutt Space that he does not elaborate on later, and Calico's incarceration is a distant and unwelcome memory. He now find himself back at square one, greatly impoverished with nothing but the clothes on his back and an almost encyclopedic knowledge of obscure and valuble armaments to see him back to the economic promised land.

But it will come, he's sure of it.

Ralago "Ratt" Taldune, Dug Driver/Enforcer - driver, pilot, legbreaker

Character Sheet

Ratt got his name from his podracing days, where his cautious, untheatrical approach to racing made him unpopular with the audience. Fans of the sport branded him a coward due to his low risk - as least for podracing - driving. That suited him. He had no interest in winning a few races and then burning out, literally or otherwise. Instead, he made a long career of finishing in the middle, sometimes making the podium, occasionally even winning a race or two by default. No grand prizes, but enough cash to make a living.

That ended when the Empire took power and banned the sport. Although underground podracing circuits continued running, Ratt had no ties to the underworld and his tendency to avoid the spotlight meant no recruiters sought him out. Left out of work, Ratt drifted throughout the galaxy from one low-paying job to the next. Ratt blamed the Empire's xenophobia for banning podracing due to being a non-human sport and its human supremacist policies for his poor prospects. His resentment steadily increased until it was all let out in a drunken and very public tirade where he raged at humans and the Empire, made crude allegations about the Emperor's proclivities and family history, and claimed that the Galaxy would have been better off if the Seperatists had won the war. Recordings of the rant are still on the Holonet and Ratt is more well known for it than his podracing.

Ratt woke up the next day in a jail cell awaiting transport to Kessel. Luckily for him, his rant caught the attention of Nars Mord, a former Seperatist commander working for the Black Sun syndicate. Mord's operations had been hindered by his gang of hotheads and thugs, whose reckless behavior often resulted in damaged cargo or unnecessary deaths during runs. Mord recognized Ratt from his podracing and bailed him out, deciding that his crew could benefit from a more cautious head. For the next few years, Ratt worked alongside Mord's crew as a courier and getaway driver, steadily becoming more and more familiar with the underworld and finding a knack for intimidation.

Once again, Ratt found a comfortable existence and once again, it was ruined by the Empire. The Black Sun struck a deal to work with the Imperials and rumors spread that part of the deal included turning over all former Seperatists in their ranks. Mord quickly went into hiding and the members of his crew ran for it as well, fearing they would be targeted due to their ties to Mord. In any case, if the Black Sun really was about to start working with the Empire, Ratt wanted nothing more to do with it.

Once again, Ratt is in need of a new career. This time though, he has more skills and more opportunities. He has his eye on a startup shipping company in Corellia. Ideally, working there will be the same thing as he's been doing before, but with more cash in front of him and less sirens behind.

Two favors to ask:

1- Can you add in your preferred availability for weekends to your submissions... It's looking like we'll probably aim for every other week and also discuss the schedule as a group once decided, you make it easier for everyone too make it.

2- Copy Paste some or all of your background blurb into the post, just its easier to keep track of things.

Louis Udo
Human Navigator
character sheet

Louis Udo was top of his class at the planetary university of stellar sciences. He is native to Marlaw, a mid-rim world with great ambitions but has never been able to rise to the prominance of Corellia or Sullust, and upon graduation Louis carried the flame of that ambition in his heart. He travelled with trade ships, optimizing navigation routes and finding new ones entirely - always ready to prove himself and make his planet proud.

Then the merchant ship he was travelling on got ambushed by Pirates. Most of the crew was killed in the fighting, the rest sold as slaves in the outer rim. Louis though, possessed a skillset most useful to a pirate. He was forced to serve as navigator and part-time mechanic, until he could find a way to escape. As it turns out his salvation was an Imperial anti-piracy patrol. It didn't hurt that he sabotaged the hyperdrive.

Captain Aaron Ray, leader of the pirate ship, managed to escape on his personal attack craft. However the rest of the crew was captured or killed, the second time Louis had managed to survive. He managed to plead for his freedom by testifying against the rest of the crew, but he is still in legal entanglements. Even though he alleges he was press-ganged into the crew, Imperial Justice is not kind and the court cases have drained what little funds he has.

Now he is looking for work, going back out into the black, to try and earn the money he needs to clear his name. Of course, Aaron Ray is also out there and has put a bounty out for his traitorous navigator's head...

Some great submissions so far. Just posting to say that picks will be made 1 week from today.

Also gonna say that as for the exact time for games, this was my thought:

- Saturday or Sunday
- Late morning or early afternoon EST
- At the end of each session we would figure out when the next session(s) will be
- Ideally would aim for at the minimum a session every other weekend
- Sessions will last about 4 hours

Hope that helps people working on apps. We will figure out a schedule!

Col Holleck, Fringer/Big-Game Hunter

Character Sheet

After starting his career ferrying expeditions from one of Coruscant's bigger universities across the Outer Rim, Col and his friends had a more ambitious idea. One shady loan and a customised luxury yacht and Semest Outer Rim Safari Tours was in business.

And business was good. Hauling Coruscanti rich and leisured to some backwater to shoot some sufficiently threatening animals and then hauling them back was considerably more lucrative than working as a glorified school bus.

Then came the war.

The sector was supposed to be safe, the job a simple hunting trip. But the Separatist raiders did not care about the status of those they run across; no witnesses. Short firefight later no ship, no partners, no customers, and Col stranded alone on a frozen hellhole of a planet. It took a week until passing Republic patrol picked Col's emergency signal.

As much as Col would like to see this as a new beginning, the original loan for the ship still stands and the loaner was not one the more reputable banks. No matter the circumstances, no matter the sob story, Hicks-Bozz'min Savings and Loan is going to get their money...

Main: Pilot
Secondary: Navigator
Other: Wilderness survival, sharpshooter

Character Cheet - Kensi Sulat (PDF)

Born during the era encompassing the death of the old republic and the birth of the empire. Kensi comes from a family strong in the force, with many users and adepts in the family tree.

The family was brutally wiped out by the empire early on, Kensi survived as a young child and kept alive in the shadows of Corellia.

He found himself adept as a tinkering mechanic, and continues to ply his trade as such. While doing so, he also has a very strong sense of justice and has not hesitated to play the role of unilateral judge and executioner... when it can be done so quietly and without drawing attention to himself. Such actions often fall into gray areas, and cause conflict with his upbringing and beliefs in the force.

Position : Mechanic / Technician
Career : Technician w/ Modder, Mechanic, Force Sensitive specs.
Combat Proficiencies : skilled in short ranged light weapons

Timezone : GMT -6, will need at least a weeks notice for scheduling.

edit - also worth noting I know nothing of the game system, haven't cracked a sourcebook, and made the character entirely using the generator.

It was a tough choice to sort through the apps, and I'm sad the characters that didn't make the cut didn't, because they were VERY cool characters, just didn't have that extra skill or some background hook to really snag the few spots. Hopefully next time!

Now you just need to pick a ship! You an search them by name to see various types of blueprints and I'm sure someone more industrious with this can find stat sheets for them. Any specific mods to your version would be listed below.

Option 1: C-ROC Gozanti Cruiser

This workhorse of a ship would be from the Civil War era, most likely used as an old Republic recon and supply ship. As such, the top crew deck has been removed and modified into a small docking clamp for a small shuttle or fighter, in this case, you have a minimally armed, unshielded shuttle that has no hyperdrive of its own, but can be used for recon or pickups or dropoffs or weird orgy parties with the Grandmaster, I dunno.

Option 2: HT-2200 Medium Freighter

This blocky fella is also modified, sacrificing the forward starboard cargo bay for a tractor beam array. The engines have also been modded up to make it a bit speedier than what you'd expect.

Option 3: YT-1930 Transport

This guy would technically actually be a YT-1920, as the 1930 is technically a post-RotJ era ship or something. Consider it a wacky prototype, it's fast, it's maneuverable, it has some punch, but as a prototype that never made it to the production line, it has its share of fickle issues and possible maintenance woes. The hyperdrive was installed after the fact, as the prototype didn't have one installed because prototype.

Option 4: The classic, a modified YT-1300 of some type

We all know what it looks like, though some of the variants change up the look and if you want to do that, I'm fine with it. This one would be setup as a hybrid of the passenger and cargo configurations, with 2 large holds and just enough passenger room for your crew, plus a small lounge. Only one escape pod on yours, the other side is a fancy docking hatch so you can dock directly with bigger ships that use docking collars.

First prelim session to sit down, iron things out, and intro the campaign WON'T be this weekend, as I'm out of town, or the weekend after, since it's my birthday and my wife will be in town. First session tentatively scheduled for the weekend of Oct 20-21, I will check my call schedule as that may narrow which of the two days I can do for that weekend.

In the meantime, hop on the discord, hit me up to get access to the channels, and start chatting with your crew to make some decisions!

Royalty is a continuous cutting motion

Tendra Sonner, ISB

Typical of the new crop of Imperial officers, Agent Sonner is personally ambitious and politically savvy. As a product of the Empire's para-militarized school system, she is a dedicated COMPNOR member and a firm believer in the racist tenets of Palpatine's new order; a fact that has not deterred her from employing a number of non-human assets to accomplish her missions. Rassk recently assisted in one of these assignments, that being the removal of a nascent anti-imperial movement among the notoriously independent Corellian security forces and a segment of the more respectable criminal enterprises. The job ended in a lot of bodies, which she seemed to see as a bonus -- it's really hard to tell with her, since she's probably the kind of sociopath who succeeds in Imperial Security.

Sonner sometimes displays very slight muscle tremors and inconsistent pupil dilation, which Rassk knows are signs of very discreet (and expensive) cybernetics. This likely marks her out as something more dangerous than an ISB agent.

Rassk typically refers to her as "COMPNOR Barbie", often to her face, but is well aware that her combination of party credentials and government authority can make for an extremely useful contact. She also pays well.
