Why are you posting in this thread when you could be writing a 10,000 word dissertation for my 'bottom posting vs top posting megathread" on yosnet.

For some reason Ubuntu 18 has one that does in the repos.

i can turn on unencrypted port 119 if desired; since the passwords are custom generated for this application the risk is pretty low. but i'd really prefer to keep everyone on ssl.

do they have stunnel?

a bunch in the year of Linux on the desktop thread

mainly because for the moment my systems (an HP 9000/425t and an HP 9000/433s) are running NetBSD 8 and not HP-UX or Domain/OS

I have all I need now to get Domain/OS 10.3 running from an image a friend sent though, and plan to do so soon; it’s too bad there doesn’t appear to be a native Display Manager newsreader still accessible anywhere (hope I’m wrong)

our little group of preservationists also now has a DN10000 “personal supercomputer” with two CPUs and 48MB of RAM we’re attempting to bring back to life; it’s a bit rough due to a lack of docs but progress is being made

I had an interview for an internal promotion and one of the questions I got asked was to talk about a layer 4 protocol besides TCP and UDP and I had just read this thread so I said "NNTP for usenet". This is actually completely wrong but it was obscure enough that none of the interviewers knew better and anyway I passed.

people, you have to subscribe to groups before you can see if they have messages. this is because on the Real Usenet there's like 50,000 groups
