The sheer number of controversial or otherwise significant pairings make me very suspicious of Flags Mashup Bot. I think there really is a bot doing mashups and posting them automatically, but there's also a human who sometimes does them, and that's why we see an "Isreal + Palestine" or "Russia + Ukraine" type mashup fairly frequently. It honestly seems like that happens every two or three days.
