Also, an ambassadorship to a friendly, rich country like France is a political gift to a strong supporter. The embassy's professional staff does all the diplomacy in a place like that. Taking copies of art from his own mega-donor when he could have the original with a call to his staff is just a hilariously weird and pointless "power move" flex.
