I know it's pretty common in Japan's independent scene with the Produce shows, but GCW is doing exactly the kind of thing that I wish WWE (And AEW) would do with their platform more often, and that's just fun, random shows with a unique theme to them. GCW has Bloodsport, Joey Janella's Spring Break, Orange Cassidy's whatever and a dozen others that just feel so fresh and exciting to watch. It's not the most well produced or wrestled shows out there but they're all so loving fun to watch

The death match stuff has started getting to gross one-ups on each other again. I've seen the blade spots done relatively safe before but I think Takeda has subscribed to the Ibushi and Takahashi school of not giving a single gently caress what happens to himself as long as it's exciting to him. Even outside of death matches, Takeda is a good enough wrestler he doesn't need to keep escalating and I hope he transitions into a Nick Gauge or Jun Kasai style of brawling with occasional death match spots before he literally kills himself

I'm not posting this because I expect anyone to be there, and as far as I know they don't have DVDs or a streaming service. I just want to bring attention to the weirdest loving money mark promotion in America right now. They're ran by a private catholic school and everyone that's wrestled there has always said they get paid super well, the promoters and venue are great, and they even order free catering for the wrestlers. This promotion is just so loving weird.

A big advantage they have is the guy promoting the shows is the Principal of the school they run (or something like that), they are run as fundraisers for the school so they have no rent or lighting/PA hire costs and a lot of the people involved are volunteers. Which means they can bring in Minoru Suzuki or Barbaro Cavernario and indy stars and still more than break even.

I know it's not Dan Rykert because if he had kept going down the manager route he would have willingly, legitimately, had his eye literally ripped out so he could wear an eye patch by now because he thinks Evangelion and Metal Gear Solid are the two best works of fiction in human history. This sounds like an exaggeration but Dan Rykert thought glasses were cool when he was a kid with 20/20 vision and lied during an eye exam, willing wore glasses that permanently damaged his normal eyesight, and now he's borderline blind without glasses. He also never had mayonnaise until he was in his 30's. His reaction to a tornado ripping his neighbor's roof off was "gently caress this is annoying" and fell asleep. He got married in a Taco Bell. This man is Forrest Gump in real life.

I've been burned on so many shows on Kickstarters before that get funded then premier on an exclusive app that I will definitely not download just for one show and I'm also lol'ing that the only size the T-Shirt is in is men's medium Still though, I hope they do well, there's a big void of women's wrestling in the NA scene right now.
