*sounds of railways*
The sounds you are hearing are sounds that I've always known. It's the sound of trains, crucial for travel and commerce, sounds of a healthy community.

*sounds of forks clanking, plates, etc*
But lately, the folks of Heels Flat, Missipetucky have been hearing other sounds. Sounds that maybe suggest that things aren't as rosy as their 15% unemployment statistics may suggest.

*Sounds of: people chatting, vague racial slurs and "those people" can be discerned*
*Speaking: Hosiah Reynolds>> "Been livin here all my life, since I done moved here when I was 46. Things I'm hearin' now. . . well it just gets you thinking bout those kinds of people, you know. Sometimes... sometimes you just don't know"

Reynolds, now 49, credits a host of social ills on a new phenomenon. Where there were the sounds of trains, now Heels Flat hears... something new.

*a distant noise comes under the train, gradually increasing in volume until the song is clear and loud*

A new train operated by a colorful, Spanish speaking, conductor is causing waves. Some locals call it the Beanertown Express... and it's tearing the once-homogenous township apart with allegations..... .. .... of racism.

In the next hour, we examine the human cost of recent banking industry scandals.
Don, an 8 figure earning executive, may face cutbacks to his salary and future earnings. Marta, a Balinese immigrant who is contracted to clean the bank's penthouse, is also probably facing some kind of self-inflicted money woes.

We'll hear how Don plans to fight back, next, on Money Hour.

"Former bartender turned recent government employee Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez noted that the slight increase in taxes for wealthy Americans might help offset the enormous costs of not allowing people to die though she did not address allegations that such a socialist policy would be rendered unconstitutional. Meanwhile, on the other side of the aisle, Genius Wonderkid and Policy Maverick, Paul Ryan, who served as a Vice President candidate before his tenure as a wildly popular and influential Speaker of the House of Representatives, noted that it was unlikely that Ms. Cortez had worked out the particulars of such a plan.

"It's not just something you can scribble on the back of a cocktail napkin", he added."

Hello podcast listeners, it's Ira Glass
Today we'll look at the harrowing tale of a nice, outgoing white girl who is sex-positive.

In act one she'll talk about how hard it was for people in religious communities to accept her message.

In act two, she wrestles with being an inclusive feminist and a good ally.

Then in act three, tragedy, when some college kids ask her to be more mindful. This leads her down a path to the alt-right, eventually dicking down with someone who, just 3 weeks prior, was harassing her online.

The afterwards is a bunch of wondering why her old friends suddenly don't talk to her"

Now you have to write up a reaction-review in NPR style.

Vato posted:

Chicano works perfectly well. If you are Honduran, you can say that. This new thing is silly.
Chicano has connotations to Mexico and the Aztlan myth that makes it a little dicey to mass-adopt (it kind of squishes all the many cultures and ethnic groups that make up Latin america and Mexico). Not sure what the status of it in Honduras is, though.
In fact, a bunch of the MEChA folks voted to remove Chicano-Aztlan from the name and charter because they felt it was alienating.
But on the other hand it is a self-designed refferrant so anyone that feels sympathy or a connection can adopt it.

Guest: Well, definitely, that American need to strive for better. Kids nowadays just... well they just want things handed to them. The best schools. The best scholarships. But do they work for them? That's the thing, as a College Freshman I took a job for a week at the local Gas N Pump. I earned just over $159 dollars and that covered my tuition, books, dorm, social expenses and cafeteria bill through graduate school. And the kids now just don't, anymore.
