i have the same issue, and i assume it's my processor not quite being up to snuff. putting the game on my SSD didn't seem to make a huge difference. i get bad stutter when i get close to MULE territory and the game has to model people who aren't me, too.

I don't think it's really performance, since other than those stupid Now Loading stops the game works very smoothly. It looks like some stupid bug - it happens when riding vehicles regardless of speed, but when I'm running around in a speed frame faster than a bike, it's fine.

Could be maybe something road-related, since it started happening more once I build up the network. But it seems too specific to just be a memory or processor issue.

modeling 2 things > modeling 1 things. my game does the same and definitely performs worse in the second area when all the roads came up. i'd say either deal with the momentary pauses or get real stoked to go on foot forever, because as far as i can tell this is a hardware issue and and not the game itself.

Important note on bot delivery success chances: I forget exactly what the UI looks like but I remember that the expected cargo condition that it gives you is the opposite of what I thought it was at first, eg it said 90% and I took that to mean the cargo would have ~90% of its durability left on arrival, but it actually meant that it would be ~90% damaged. Had a lot of very busted bot deliveries before I figured that out.

i made this mistake exactly one time with my bot dropping off some 98% busted cargo to that cranky old bastard The Elder and getting a comically low amount of likes for it. star didn't even budge.

the little bots are so earnest and chipper though! i love them even if they're technically stealing my job. can you upgrade them eventually, or do you just get more?

Anyone else getting CTD on PC with a access violation? have all the latest drivers and it just keeps crashing

i am! only started happening after 1.01, or after i played the game a bunch and my save got all fat, not sure which cause i bought it on launch day. sometimes it lets me click back onto the game window behind the error pop up to save & quit, sometimes it doesn't. it also doesn't seem to be related to much, cause i can play for hours and be just fine, or catch a crash or two within an hour.

everything in this game is so stupidly on the nose, it's amazing. just finished the whole delivery/huge cutscene with Heartman and i have to say, in most games i'd hate "celebrity guest appearances" but somehow Kojima really makes it work

normally Kojima's science man characters fall really flat for me, but both Deadman and Heartman are pretty great. Heartman's a charming dork with a just stupid enough gimmick, and Deadman both has 0 respect for Sam's personal space and the good sense to hide instead of dragging you into a dumb escort quest when the two of you get zapped back to WW2.

i have to say, i played through MGSV about 2 months ago, and in comparison the stealth and combat both seem really weak. obviously they aren't the same kind of game at all, but every time i have to rip through another MULE camp or deal with a swarm of BTs, i find myself just thinking "ugh, again?" same thing with the war flashback combat sections. the game as a whole would be a lot better imo if it was just full postman sim, but i understand why they'd want the other elements there too. partially because Kojima has always made stealth action games, and partially because people cried enough about how boring the game was already.

just finished the story, 10/10 Kojima weirdness but this time i actually sort of got it. lots of very emotionally cathartic moments in the last chunk, mixed with Twin Peaks BS. game absolutely wouldn't work as well without the great performances from all the lead cast.

5 minutes later in the post game i drove a reverse trike off a cliff into a ladder so hard it crashed to desktop. 11/10.

welp. They are "corrupted" according to the game. Dangit. Hopefully there are cheats so I can speedrun to my last spot. =/

is it really surprising a big name game with this many moving parts either has DRM or Steam fuckery so you can't just pop in a perfect save file? i'd either just suck it up and grind out progress to where you were, or wait a few months and play the whole thing fresh, but you do you.

If the error message says "Device removed error" or similar somewhere, it means your graphics card got overloaded and disconnected. Are you running an overclock on it? I assume no, but sometimes cards come 'factory overclocked' by the manufacturer and the only way to know is to look it up on their website. Either way this shouldn't be happening, even a 1060 should be able to get at least 60 fps at 1080p, the game is optimized like a dream (in spite of some pretty minor technical issues).

i have a 1060 6GB and had horrific performance issues with this game. people keep parroting the "optimized like a dream" thing, but if it doesn't work well for you, it probably just won't. i still got to the ending, and it was mostly okay, but it was loving rough sometimes and no messing with settings and configs seemed to do much.

don't get me wrong, i loved the game and really want to replay it on a system it actually works on, but the port is kinda not great if you aren't one of the people it just works for out of the box
