I'm a huge boxing nerd so I was browsing Zab Judah's Wiki page today, since he suffered a career ending injury friday night. While I was browsing over his record I remembered that he has several brothers in the fight game as well, so I looked them up. I found this gem on his brother Daniel's Wiki page.wikipedia posted:Judah's father is an avowed Israelite Jew, which is another way of saying he's part of a hilarious racist cult whose members have deluded themselves into thinking that they are a lost tribe of Israel composed of black Americans. though Judah's family has declared themselves "Jews". Judah's brother Zab has been referred to in the press as "the best Jewish fighter of all time." I know that Wiki is an online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, but this was my first time seeing a rogue edit in the wild. Fellow goons share your stories about interesting edits you've come across.

Once in high school I opened Wikipedia on a computer and it had several warnings about vandalism. Taking a look, it appeared that the vandal had edited the page for revolutionary war figure John Stark by replacing the entire article with "john stark is a homo". Got 'em.

Someone edited in Gleyber Torres as the owner of the Baltimore Orioles last month after he hit 2 homers in a game against them. It actually stuck for a week or two.

Similar situation except it was in college and the person had edited in detailed descriptions of several actresses' feet to their pages. I have to imagine this guy is now running that celebrity wikifeet thing so good on him for chasing his terrifying dreams.

Anytime I read a wikipedia page I compulsively check the talk page for arguments, fights, insanity etc. You can can just go straight to Noticeboard pages like the Major Incidents, Fringe Theories, or Edit Wars if you're in a hurry, but it's much more satisfying to stumble across some no-mans-land of a talk page naturally. The Monty Hall problem just absolutely breaks people's brains. Its talk page archives grew so large and heated that it developed its own talk page.

Man, I was away from TV and internet this weekend and hadn't heard about Judah, that loving sucks and I hope he makes as full a recovery as possible. On topic, like a decade ago I edited the brazilian jiujitsu article to say that it "Like all forms of interaction in Brazil, was designed to allow men to rub their cocks together while claiming to be straight." Lasted like a week. Possibly my greatest accomplishment in this failed life.

I forget why, but I was discussing Scott Bakula with a friend and mentioned the mostly-forgotten animated movie "Cats Don't Dance". He'd never heard of it, so we quickly pulled up the Wikipedia article, which was mostly normal...except for the "Cult Following" section. It mostly referenced a single unofficial fan-site, which was almost surely written by the guy who made the site. My friend went "lol, nope" and straight up deleted the whole section. It's never been put back.

When I heard Heath Ledger died on some other forum, I went to Wikipedia to confirm because I was 15 and dumb, and the whole page had been deleted and replaced with a giant dick pic. Couldn't have lasted more than a few seconds, but it was a healthy foreshadowing of what the web would become.

The Reform, Alabama had some pretty good wiki graffiti about a certain hot dog slinging gentlemen and a reknowned gastronome whose last name was Wade. Sadly no longer the case. I mostly enjoy graffiting wikia pages myself, especially the ones i dont see the point in existing. Like the Lord of the Flies wikia. Mostly it was just me replacing the picture of Piggy with Jek Porkins and talking about how he eventually died at the battle of Yavin IV. The for some reason some random others briefly joined in, and started posting weird fat dude porn until it was cleaned up a lot. I think some of the random gibberish i replaced is still there though. Like one of the characters dads is said to be a naval officer i replaced it with naval gazer. But i havent checked it in a while. But then who the hell else would have either?

I've made so many small, weird incorrections to so many pages of the years, just like one small easily overlooked error I find idiotically humorous at the time. And I have forgotten all of them, and they are probably just accepted as fact now.

I once found an article on fondant (candy coating for fruit) where someone had replaced every fruit name with the name of a small mammal, so there were references to fondant-dipped voles and such. The other one I remember was someone getting into an argument about the taxonomy of some obscure frog species, on the stub article for that frog, with several paragraphs that amounted to "whoever edited this page is an idiot." I sometimes wonder if it's still there. It was years ago, but who's even keeping track of those random biology stubs?
