Last Oasis -
Website: http://lastoasis.gg/#1
Official Discord: https://discord.gg/HHd2Eee

The world is dying, the meager oases where life can continue to exist are ever-changing, and if you want to live, you and yours have to build mobile bases in order to chase the habitable zone while outfighting and outwitting other clans in the race to survive. The Last Oasis is a third person survival game built by Donkey Crew, a Polish development studio who openly profess to hate survival games, and hope to bring a new breath of air to the genre. Procedurally generated maps, ever-changing landscapes, skill-based combat, and a player driven economy are all compelling features of this upcoming MMO, but it’s the unique quirk within the No-Man’s Land that really makes this game stand apart.

An ancient cataclysm has caused the Earth to stop rotating, changing the planet as we know it. One side is a scorching desert, the other a frozen wasteland, and life can only exist in the narrow bands between these two extremes: the habitable zone. Humanity has become nomadic, using large wooden walkers, known as Flotillas, to gather resources, wage war, and follow the safety of the habitable zone. Flotillas can be large or small, crafted by one individual or shared by guilds. Because these bases are mobile, they can also stock up on supplies and vanish into No-Man’s Land, allowing their owners to log off of the game, safe in the knowledge that they will not return to find all their hard work smashed and raided during their absence.

TL;DR
Last Oasis is a Nomadic Survival MMO. Earth has stopped rotating, and the last human survivors need to outrun the scorching Sun in a massive Open World, by building "walker" machines powered by wind that allows them to move away from the scorching heat or deadly cold.

Walkers

Traverse the world on wooden wind-powered, walking machines. Walkers can be adapted for travel, transportation, harvesting, combat, or used as mobile bases. A multitude of structures, attachments, and upgrades allow players to personalize Walkers to their needs.

The Scorching Sun

The Sun burns the land in the west, turning it to dust. In order to stay ahead of the obliterating Sun, nomads must explore new territories that slowly emerge on the eastern horizon, from the side of the Earth that has long been frozen in impenetrable ice.

Lore

After a cataclysmic event halted the Earth’s rotation, the planet was split into two extreme and deadly environments. Only a narrow band of space between the hot and cold halves of the planet has conditions that can support life. This band moves at the pace of the planet’s rotation around the Sun, and all life on Earth must migrate with it to survive. In order to keep moving, the remnants of humanity have built nomadic machines, and a walking city called Flotilla.

Every day, Flotilla transports more nomads into the passing oases, where warring clans fight tooth and nail for control of territory and valuable resources. Some nomads have carved out lucrative positions for themselves and even gained status with Flotilla; however, most nomads are locked in a daily struggle for survival, forced to battle both nature and those around them. There will never be rest for the men who built the walkers; they can only move forward.

Survive and Thrive

Find ways to survive. Gather resources. Craft equipment. Build your Walker. Improve your skills. Learn to exploit what remains of the world. Keep your Nomad alive for as long as you can, as you become stronger the longer you escape death.

Trade in a Player Driven Economy

Trade networks stretch between the known oases. The global player-driven economy is based on real supply and demand. Smart and quick traders can make huge profits, but running trade routes always comes with a risk. Other nomads may opt to produce or hunt down rare and highly localized resources. It’s always wise to consider potential competitors first though. Challenge another clan’s monopoly, and you may become their next target.

Travel and Explore an MMO-sized World

The world consists of many interconnected oases, forming a large open world. Potentially a thousand oases exist simultaneously - the number automatically adjusts to accommodate the size of the player base. Each Oasis is over 100 km2. Explore them to reveal new and unique biomes while plundering their limited resources. Some nomads may pitstop to refill their water. Others will settle for some time, but ultimately everyone will pick up and voyage east to escape the encroaching Sun.

No-Man's-Land

No-Man’s Land is the open desert that sits between the last livable oases on Earth. Use it to quickly travel between adjacent oases, provided you bring enough water on your Walker. You can safely log off here – the endless dunes allow you to hide your walker and mobile base if you want to go to sleep or just catch a breath.

Melee and Walker Combat

Dynamic skill-based directional melee combat. Pick your weapon from a range of one-handed or two-handed swords, maces, axes or quarterstaves. If you prefer to hammer your opponents from a distance, you can choose to fight with a wide range of onboard weapons like a ballista, scattershot guns, repeaters, or catapults. Specialize in one or become a more versatile fighter by trying to master them all.

Building Bases

Construct portable bases or more permanent fortifications. Protect yourself from hostile players and the natural dangers of the world. Stone walls offer a superior defense, while lighter wooden structures are able to be packed on large Walkers and relocated.

Solo Experience

Individuals and small groups of players are the backbones of Last Oasis. Trading, hunting, and harvesting allows anyone to acquire better equipment or sell goods for profit. For those who prefer a more high-risk, high-reward lifestyle, piracy is always an option but beware of payback.

Clans and Warfare

Become a political and economic power. Control a region and get rewarded with a supply of local resources gathered there by roaming Nomads. Grow your clan and make alliances to maximize and protect your income. Always be ready for conflict – hostile clans will challenge your control and come to take away everything you’ve built.

Grappling Hook

Master the vertical movement. Every Nomad owns a grappling hook – the most essential and iconic tool of those who drive walkers. Adapt it to your playstyle. It’s all about your skill: some struggle to climb the smallest rocks, while others swing through forests out speeding even the fastest Walkers. Can you defy gravity?

quote:

Tempus Thales: One of the biggest questions lying around has been the crafting of the walkers and how exactly they are made.
pogosan: we have many walker designs with pre-made "chassis" and you can customize movable parts like wings and legs + build on top
pogosan: we'll continue to add new designs all the time, they all have different purposes and characteristics

Tempus Thales: So there is no chassis editor so that players can build chassis out of their imagination like for example in World’s Adrift (probably not the best comparison) I think the bigger question has been how do you get from staring the game butt naked to building.
pogosan: we're considering to allow customization of all the parts of the walkers, but the very base will most likely stay like that
pogosan: so you could maybe exchange the plating or sides, etc.

Tempus Thales: Or the sails? Maybe allow uploading designs to add uniqueness
pogosan: you can put different sails and legs already, but we're redoing them now and adding more. You do start butt naked, but it's pretty easy to get the first small walker in the starting zone. That's basically the first goal so you can start traveling to other Oases. Time varies though. We had some players just hanging around and gathering stuff, in the beginning, taking around 2 hours to leave, but those who just "speedrun" could do it even in 15-30 minutes, so it depends on the playstyle

Tempus Thales: What is the basic workflow from the moment you start the game to build your own chassis then? Do you start butt naked or dressed? Do you go out to do gathering? Build a small base, to begin with, etc?
pogosan: base building phase is actually supposed to start way after you get a walker since that's the main part of survival. You need to travel a lot, base building is more for clans that want to control territories and don't have enough space on their walkers for everything they need
pogosan: but you can start building very basic sandbag bases from the start

Tempus Thales: Is the game always on pvp from the get-go? Or is there a safe starting zone just to get the hang of it? Is it full loot pvp what’s the restart mechanic?
pogosan: no safe zones
pogosan: it is full loot, but character progression stays
pogosan: you can respawn on any of your clan's walkers within the Oasis you're in and all their beds. But only as long as they have water in them. It is to prevent constant respawns and make it more strategy driven. You need to keep your water supplies high if you're going into battle
pogosan: otherwise, you can pick any starting zone
pogosan: but we're still considering other ways of respawning
pogosan: possibly on trading stations

Tempus Thales: How are walkers powered? Just wind power or how?
pogosan: basically, wind makes the wings move, which generates torque power that moves the legs
pogosan: we're adding a proper torque system right now with torque storage
pogosan: so you could store excess torque on your walker to "sprint" even without wings for short durations until it's gone

Where are goons gathering for this terrible game?
