it’s impossible to say, op.

for a while key innovation was dead after Microsoft invented that one useless control key that nobody knows what it does or has ever used. not the windows key, the other one.

but fear not, new keys are being invented all the time. here is a prime example, which features two space bars. Is there a difference between left space and right space? maybe. imagine how much faster you can space when you can use two fingers independently.

it also has a function button in the middle of the left control key group, making it entirely useless. but that’s the price you pay for innovation.

The any key will also be reprogrammable. For instance, right now I may want it to be the M key. But later, I may decide that I actually wanted it to be the F key (so I can pay my respects). Future computer will make this no problem, as u can "transition" from one key to the next. Even doing some back propagation if u so desire, so that all the M's u typed earlier get converted to the F's u now choose for today.

In the future, I am going set the any key to press the any key. Then I will sit back in my chair and feel very agreeable about doing this.

i have the version of this kb with the detached numpad. the right side of it just stopped working while it was under warranty and microsoft sent me a replacement which worked fine. then a month later they sent me another replacement and didnt believe me when i told them theyd sent me two. the second replacement has two f11 keys and no f10 key

the keyboards of tomorrow will not necessarily have more keys but rather sensors to detect head twerking movements i.e. swing head forward for space, backwards for backspace, left and right for backpage/forward page in microsoft Edge

your mission for today: find a key on your keyboard that you’ve never used. it might be F9, it might be SysRq, who knows. find that key and press it. press the poo poo out of it. discover what it does, explore the wonderful opportunities it brings. maybe you’ll learn something. maybe you’ll even grow a little bit in the process.

me, I’m busting out my old Commodore 64 and hitting the Restore key. I don’t know what it does or how to use it but I’m excited.
