One time at Burning Man I took a group shower in a shipping container while Alex Grey and his wife were painting on stage net to a glitch-house DJ. It was seriously 30-40 people squeezed into a big box and then they dumped warm soapy foam on all of our naked bodies and then hosed us all off. I remember looking at the painting as I was dancing and thinking “drat dude, we get it, you like painting striated skinless people” and wondered what I was gonna do for lunch now that I was all clean.

I remember one of my best friends in college going to see APC and coming home bummed because Maynard had been such an rear end in a top hat during the set that he realized that no amount of emotional resonance with the lyrics was worth having to identify as a fan of his because he basically had open contempt for his fans. I don’t know why I didn’t remember that until now. I tripped out with a friend and listened to Fear Inoculum and it just sounds like 3 TOOL songs from their previous records stitched together. I hope the rest of the album goes more far put, otherwise this will be the Chinese Democracy of prog Rock
