Sorry if it's not the best version. Limited internet at the moment.

Tbf this isn't really much worse than the original.

Same. Now I listen to a lot of noise and I guess post hardcore. I guess it means I can be a jerk about it but once I started to hit my late 20's or so getting mad about what people listen to just seemed goofy. Unless they're listening to say, Skrewdriver.
Edit: Also stopped getting worked up about what other people thought of the music I listened to. I mean...I still definitely talk poo poo.

The rest of the album is much better than the single but it is not on the whole a better experience than Lateralus. however it could be that Lateralus was a lot more mind blowing to 17yo me than this is to 33yo me.

the production and overall mix is fantastic and theres plenty to listen to on mulitple passes.

so yeah its a Tool album alright.

I've listened to the Tool back catalog this week and I like how the one signature sound that persists across all Tool albums is the part where they run out of road technically and just go hog wild on their instruments like the opening to Jesus Christ Pose.

Quality. I mean I'd never heard anything like lateralus when I first heard it. In the last 20 or so years I've heard plenty of mind blowing poo poo that makes their particular brand of music not that exciting.

Tool have found their sound on Lateralus and this doesn't really deviate from that in terms of sound and style. There's some new experiments with sounds here but it's not that far from their two last albums.

It's a safe play but it's also really good for something that's been anticipated for 13 years. That rarely works out (see: Chinese democracy, duke nukem forever)

It's not like Lateralus per se but it's more of what you'd expect after Lateralus in terms of their style progressing. It's better than 10k days for sure.

I nerded out on a bunch of forums about the best way to listen to Lateralus and some jabronis used math to show that if you reorder the track listing you can create a single continuous loop of sound.

This track listing is referred to as “The Holy Gift” and serious TOOL heads think this is the best way to listen to the record.

So I haven’t actually listened to Lateralus as released in like 8 years, and when I try the next song is never the one I think it is
