IANAL, but sports gambling is only legal in about a quarter of the states in the union currently. Know your local laws, yada yada yada. Gambling on sports is no longer just something you do in Las Vegas. Ever since Murphy v. National Collegiate Athletic Association, individual states have the right to legalize sports gambling, which several states have done in the past few years. What better time than now to prep for the upcoming American football season's barrage of betting-themed commercials? How to Gamble (or: What Over/Under Actually Means, You Goddamn Morons) There are three primary forms of football bet: moneyline, spread, and over/under. -Moneyline is the most basic form of bet, being that math is not involved - all you have to do is pick a winner, and you're done. EXAMPLE: Who would win in a fight, Superman or Goku? -Spread is like moneyline, but more fun, because there is a threshold or 'line' that is placed favoring one team. The final score plus or minus the line equals whether you won or not. EXAMPLE: Who would win in a fight, Superman or SSJ Goku? -Over/under is related to the total number of points scored in a game, regardless of which team scores them. There's one number given to a game, and it's going to be either more or less than that (unless it's a push, where it's exactly the number). EXAMPLE: How many punches would connect if Superman fought Goku? How to Gamble Like a Pro If you think you've got the handle on that, there are plenty of other kinds of bets you typically can place on a game, such as the following: -Parlays are bets tied to other bets. You only win if all of your bets come in right. EXAMPLE: Who would win the following fights: Superman fighting Goku and Martian Manhunter fighting Piccolo? -Teasers are parlays for people who like to live dangerously. The odds are set better or worse depending on how much you want to gamble. EXAMPLE: Who would win the following fights: Superman with Kryptonite poisoning fighting Goku and Martian Manhunter fighting armless Piccolo? -Prop bets are side wagers given to mundane things that get magnified in significant games. EXAMPLE: When Superman and Goku fight, will Sonic the Hedgehog show up AND eat a chili dog? How Not to Gamble As someone who has won thousands of dollars on football, I have a few basic principals: -Don't poo poo where you eat. Betting on (or against) your own team might FEEL like a slam dunk, but it's not. Fandom gets in the way of determining whether or not Team A can beat Team B by X amount of points, which I learned the hard way when I put all my money on Texas State to beat New Mexico State a few years ago -Don't bet based on one team's performance. Upsets happen every week, so you not only need to know who you're betting FOR, but also who you're betting AGAINST. -Don't follow the leader. Just because everyone is betting on Chicago to beat Green Bay doesn't mean you have to. watch me be wrong -Future wagers aren't that fun, especially more than six months out of a championship. -DFS is 95% suckers, and that includes you if you play DFS. Where to Get More Information Literally everywhere. In modern times, we've got daily shows on FS1 and ESPNews devoted to sports betting, and SiriusXM has their own radio channel for talking about it. Any website or mobile app that gives sports scores and schedules will give you the odds, so I don't see how you can miss it. Good luck, have fun, and don't bet on Rams games!

Your examples should actually include examples. Provide the reader with an explicit demonstration of the wager type. I love goku and he’s real and my friend

early season college football betting is some fun poo poo because of all the player turnover and a real lack of info or statistics to set lines. I like college football betting in general because its one of the harder sports to quantify, given the player turnover, totally varying schedules, relatively few amount of games, and inherent inconsistency of teenage football players. And yeah, there is often value betting against the most popular schools.

I'm tempted to use the UNU AI swarms this year for some light gambling because they've been pretty consistent the past few years to earn a net positive.

What is the best site to use if it is now legal to put hundreds on dollars on the Cincinnati Bengals winning every game? Can I do it in Ohio in front of my computer or does everything vary by state? What do I have to worry about for tax poo poo once I inevitably win every wager?

Many states are rushing to implement either retail and/or mobile betting by the start of the season. https://www.legalsportsreport.com/sports-betting/ We're still probably a year or two from broad online sports betting being accessible in most states but a handful will have mobile apps by this fall. *There are also tons of offshore online books that americans can theoretically bet on, the legality of which is gray, and you will probably have no recourse if they decide to tell you to gently caress off and take your money and/or make it exceptionally difficult to withdraw. I can't really speak for if any of these are a good idea, i only bet via actual sportsbooks in the u.s. and yeah you're supposed to pay taxes on gambling winnings G-Hawk fucked around with this message at 18:45 on Jul 22, 2019 |

After September first you can cruise over to an Indiana casino and throw away your $2,000.

Bet on La. Tech + 20.5, Texas will probably win but I just don't see us being up 3 TDs at the end. If we ever get to a 3-TD lead Herman will go all conservative and let them narrow the gap. Even moreso because he's not going to want to risk injuries or show offensive wrinkles any more than absolutely necessary to get the win with LSU on deck for next week. That said the game I thought for sure was Free Money last year (USC +3.5) was the only game all season that we actually did win by 21+ so who the hell knows.

I'm going to judge whether I should touch the NFL the first few weeks by how this would go: Falcons +3.5 Chiefs -3.5 Rams -1.5 Lions -2.5 Texans +7.0 I didn't touch it at all last year until I saw the Patriots were +150 underdogs against the Chiefs in the AFCCG, and as a Chiefs fan there's no goddamn way I was passing that up. I have very conflicting feelings about Dee Ford.
