but when i think about it for more than 2 seconds (rare for me) it’s one of those nebulous terms that is abused to make whatever point you need at the time

feel free to correct me I mean I was only there a week but I went out a lot in a bunch of neighborhoods and even stuff like fuller's seemed rare, I saw more american ipas than british brands

I lived there for 8 years and craft beer was a big thing. It's pretty common to have cask ales in lots of pubs, and a lot of it is really good

My local pub (The Victoria in Bethnal Green) always had a couple of goodies. And there were like 4 pubs in walking distance that had great british cask ales or craft beers on tap. I would agree that the highest-volume of beer drank is probably a czech or german lager/pilsener of some kind tho

It took me a while to get a taste british cask ale but now I generally prefer it. thankfully craft beer has had a bit of a moment in NZ too so its not just hyper-fizzy ice-cold "ales" and lagers anymore

i live in a country with a socialised health system, but work for an american company who provides health insurance for me and my fam.

basically we just bounce between both systems depending on where the best/most expedited care is. for eg in a small town like wellington there’s only a few cardiologists so we skipped the waiting list for my wife’s laproscopic heart surgery with the exact same surgeon by having it done in the private hospital down the road where he works on fridays

it’s bullshit that this option is available to us and not everyone, but i guess it takes some pressure off the public health system by funding a $25,000 surgery out of insurance rather than public health funding

i’ve never once had a job perk like insurance or anything. they do exist but i’ve never myself

only computer touchers and finance jerks who work at big multinationals get it as standard in the UK/Aus/NZ in my experience

I think i saw him do a guest spot on parks and rec or something where he played some dude who just yelled all the time instead of talking and while that premise sounds lame it was really funny and good. so i guess i am a loving idiot who can’t enjoy things

after one of the robots exploded and daft punk decided to stop doing bloopy bloop I went down a sweaty french hole and found this bideo

I went to this gig in melborune when I was living there and it loving owned. now i am middle aged I feel like im unlikely to recapture that adrenaline/endorphin vibe of being at a dope gig and dancing like a loving idiot and feeling like a cool happy bro. which makes me feel old

I mean I could probably just stop being a baby and just go to cool gigs and/or start futzing around with music again. but while I have young kids my focus is on them. my uncle is a pretty good bassist and starting playing a lot again after his kids got a bit older, maybe I will too? idk

in before graph rages out about daft punk being sellout muzak for techno babies

the fries are the real killer

yeah the fries are totally 100% unhealthy, shitloads of salt and calories. imo they are only good when they are just out of the fryer, you've only got a window of a few minutes before they just become gross, and that only happens if you dine in and either watch it like a hawk or explicitly ask for fresh fries which makes you feel like a jerk

so I don't order them at mcdonalds, id rather not take on the calories for cold gross fries
