The newest episode was really good and probably the direction they should go with this series. Just copy Fear Street and make more gruesome 20-something slashers.

Fear street? Isn't that like the RL Stine thing from normal-aged childhood times?

Yes but the movies are hardcore. Hard R.

I’m gonna have to check those out then, that sounds pretty good. Was a little hesitant once I saw yet another franchise being resurrected by Netflix

It's a good direction for horror aiming for the middle school to college aged kids market. People already are desensitized from the internet so going back to full brutal 80s gore is about right for the course. These movies and shows are already as trash as anything written back then so it's not like anything's lost.

One thing this show and Fear Street kept loving up though was the kill order for revenge kills. Like Rubber Girl offs the main bully first in a random stabbing and Santa kills main douche second but leaves ancillary douche third before killing the hero. Slashers have a specific formula for a reason drat it

New season of Slasher coming up soon, which is also pretty good if you're into this kind of thing. First season is before they moved to streaming so the kills are less intense. Second season is really good, and the third is almost as good IMO. Keen for the fourth.

Not seen Fear Street (yet) but I figured Naughty List was trying to avoid killing the black, queer character before the straight douchebags. Not sure killing the Asian kid first was the correct solution to this problem though.

Should we do spoiler tags for this show? Surely a single streaming episode release should be treated like a normal terrestrial episode release?

THUNDERDOME LOSER 2019

Thanks thread for recommending Fear Street, it was fabulous.

Having two lesbians have a date in the woods set to the Pixies Gigantic was quite a choice. Sure they have a bond together over the Pixies; I thought most of the 1994 song picks were intentionally referencing what was going on in the plot, like Creep when the protagonist feels like she doesn't belong there, or Come Out and Play when they were setting traps to keep the monsters separated. Maybe they just needed another Pixies song and chose that one for being the most romantic?

Whoever recommend fear street, thank you. I'm not through the first movie yet but loving it

May I recommend Scream Queens, I liked that too!

American Horror Stories fixes all the problems of American Horror Story for the last few seasons because even if the episodes are good, but not great, at least they don't take an entire season to get to their point.

I dunno, I thought the last few seasons were a return to form.

Edit; and by form, I mean, "didn't suck like every early season did that wasn't Asylum"

How did she figure out the gaslighting, did the demon politely explain it to her once she completed the summoning?

The husband said that he told the cops everything so presumably she was released after that and was told the truth.

e:. Wait, that doesn't really work either since she summoned Ba'al while in the hospital the night they all get killed so I change my answer to I don't know.

THUNDERDOME LOSER 2019

This episode might have improved if it were a two parter. end one episode as a psychological horror story that ends in the first twist, then the second episode as a gorefest of revenge.

I imagine the demon told her he wasn't the one haunting her. like she wanted to finish the "banishing" spell to still protect her kid, but the demon shows up like "I don't want your kid, why would I want your kid?"

Ryan Murphy loves revenge porn so instead of having Billie Lourd be a tragic figure she just got her gore comeuppance like every other season and episode of AHS. If you expected any other outcome then prepare to be disappointed.

I mean when she was immediately like “why do you want my baby!?” he was probably like “ wtf I don’t want your kid lol”

Ending it with a husband gaslighting his wife into a mental hospital then casually saying he's getting rid of his kid, and there being no comeuppance isn't going to fly on basic cable horror show.
Why did Billie Lorde want to gently caress that demon though?

But surely horror, of all genres, should allow for sad/miserable/crap endings? Like don't get me wrong, I didn't want to see an ending where the nice lady gets incarcerated because her husband is a goddamn psychopath with a reality show fixation (lol, how were they planning on selling that as a TV pilot!?) but I don't think horror should be a genre where good necessarily triumphs over evil and the victims walk away feeling empowered and improved.

(And does whatever F/X on Hulu is count as basic cable? F/X wasn't basic cable at all.)

Not really, Channel Zero was entirely based on those and it was loving excellent. I think they're turning the Left Right Game into some sort film or movie or whatever too.

I love it too, horror movies that just end with "haha bad thing wins and everyone loses" are zZzZzZz that's IRL already, why do I need that in fiction, especially when it also doubles as a "haha we can do a sequel and re-use this same concept or monster again and again."

Sure, if all horror ended predictably with good guy get revenge and win, it'd get dull, but in this particular case and most of these others, there's some real poo poo that sucks from IRL that won't and can't be solved in an hour or at all and it's very satisfying to see like, lovely youtube pranksters, or twisted gaslighter, getting destroyed. If a badguy is going to win, I prefer it to be something that isn't real, like a ghost, or a demon, or a doll, but if the horror is coming from some horrible poo poo from real life where the twist is already "the monster wins and doesn't go away all along" it's not especially clever for the horror version to do the same thing. Though some horror is just meant to make you miserable and hate everyone involved I guess.

Is this a real question, given the opportunity, would you not gently caress a demon?

It's just funny when I see it pop up because you can tell the writers are googling their stories. There's a creepypasta about how the national park services are to keep humans away from predators that eat them and that's why Teddy Roosevelt set them up. But it's not a bad thing because:
