I think mono black is going to need ritual of soot to stay relevant. Either that or a more aggro focused meta. There are so many greedy archetypes in UG that can go over mono black.

So it seems like token generation is pushed pretty drat hard in this set. Oko, Garruk, Field of the Dead, if you aren't making at least three power for free every turn you're not really a control deck I guess? Unfortunately with the meta moving toward red aggro more dominated by rares and mythics than uncommons it might be harder for new players in this set.
