If you know of a local rescue or shelter they might be able to house the cat for you as well just doing a scan for a microchip. Otherwise, if you really want to keep the cat around for a bit you can put posters up and house the thing til something turns up. Cat food and water and litter if you're hanging onto it for awhile. Is she skinny? Well fed? There's a chance she could just be abandoned too. ps, if you arent near groceries with cat food just springwater packed fish or plain chicken that'd be a thing to feed it with water.
