Hamster All Stars is a cheap little game from cheap little game purveyor sokpop, about making hamster race courses, and then betting on hamsters, using your money to get more course features to make more races.

Sizeable is a slightly more expensive hidden object game, based around interactable vignettes where you can increase or decrease the size of objects. Looks cute.

Part of the problem with finding games on Steam is that I'm pretty sure that 'new' games are being added retroactively, so if you were to look at the games released yesterday, then come back and look at the same day a week from now, there will be even more games then there were previously, if that makes sense. It must be hell if the game you've been working on for years doesn't even get placed into the front of new releases. Anyway, here's some games from like, last week?

Princess Castle Quest: A pretty competent game in the vein of Chip's Challenge, it's not in 'Early Access' but it's not fully complete either, with new levels getting added every day. 10$ seems a little pricey, but if sokoban is your thing (It is mine!) it's probably worth being in your collection
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1103550/Princess_Castle_Quest/

Machinika Museum: If you've played the Room this will probably be familiar to you. Seems like it has more of a focus on a sci fi alien artifact feel over the rooms endless clockwork.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1507190/Machinika_Museum/

Rolled Out: A Super Monkey Ball tribute that's been in development for quite a while already, it's still in early access, and a little rough and short. Worth a wishlist if nothing else.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/873270/Rolled_Out/

pureya: A collection of rapid fire minigames revolving around collecting marbles which you then use for gatcha. Rad.

The Third Day: A point and click adventure starring Jesus Christ, from Family Guy. I'm partially putting this here as a 'check this poo poo out' joke, but it does look like a well put together, if incredibly stupid, game.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1544460/The_Third_Day/

Things That Bounce and Explode: This game exists somewhere between breakout and a bullet hell game. Looks fun, in an incredibly hectic way.

Combohead: Kinda like a single player Lethal League, kick some balls around to break blocks as fast as possible.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1568320/COMBOHEAD/

NGU Industries: I'm sure the idler thread is probably already all over this. NGU idle was one of the better and more interesting idle games out there and NGU industries seems like, well, more of the same. A mechanically dense avalanche of numbers going up.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1433990/NGU_INDUSTRIES/

Creatura: A virtual terrarium game that sets itself apart by offering DNA editing of the plants and animals living in it. I'm not sure what that means or entails but it seems to be well liked by virtual terrarium aficionados.

It's been a pretty good day for fresh releases, Lost Words also came out today. It's a puzzle platformer where you interact with the environment using the word from the story being narrated.

gently caress, I wish I were capable of playing platformers. The reflexes just aren't there/I don't feel like spending the time to learn them.

Narrative based Puzzle platformers like Lost Words don't usually require a high level of reflex or skill to play them. They're usually made so everyone can eventually see the whole experience. There's a big difference between Wandersong and The End is Nigh.

That being said here are some hard precision platformers that have come out in the last week.

Captain Coffer 2D: "60 seconds and 1 doubloon. Unlock doors, climb ladders, boost off of springs, slide through sand, and banish the goons wreaking havoc throughout the lost kingdoms."
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1563720/Captain_Coffer_2D/

SDST Deluxe: "SDST: Deluxe is a 2D-Platformer with a semi-Open World. Tons of fun, content, and fast-paced platforming awaits you in this deluxe edition of a classic title."
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1579590/SDST_Deluxe/

Rotego: "A puzzle platformer where you must tether to finish! Hold space while jumping to shoot out a tether, which will shift the gravity towards any surface it connects with."
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1575310/Rotego/

Mastho is Together: "Amazing precision platformer. Visual is minimalist, music is chill, level design is there to brake you, but encouraging checkpoints will prevent you from having a stroke. EXTREMELY RECOMMENDED."

Potion Party: Looks pretty similar to Overcooked, managing a limited space to fulfill complex orders solo or with a few friends. It doesn't have the chaos that Overcooked has but it does have progression as you upgrade the shop you work out of.

Inkslinger: A visual novel based around you being a letter writer, helping others organize their thoughts and sentiments. Very distinct and minimalist.

Reminds me of the anecdote that when Hunter S Thompson was starting out, he locked himself in his room and spend like a whole day typing out a copy of the Great Gatsby because he wanted to see what it was like to write a great book.

Unsighted - I know it sounds like a joke but I kept having trouble seeing what was area you can step on vs borders of the environment. At least in the first area.

Seems fun though. And complex.

It does the cool thing where there are secret movement techniques but it doesn't explicitly tell you about them til later in the game, so on repeat playthroughs you can really break the game apart.

Erik Hermansen, the dude who created DROD, just put out a new puzzle game.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1449570/The_Godkiller__Chapter_1/

I only recently got into the DROD series and this looks a good deal more involved and intense than those games, which were already incredibly difficult. Looks like a good time if your idea of a good time is a puzzle game that leaves you broken and crying in the shower.

Havent seen this one before, thanks! If this puzzle game kick doesnt end after Supraland Ill definitely give it a whirl

You might also like Treasure Adventure World which is a pretty heavy on exploration metroidvania that takes a lot of cues from windwaker. Not nearly as difficult but definitely a slower styled search action game with a bigger emphasis on puzzles.

There's also Recompile which I don't know as much about but I plan on jumping into after supraland because I hear it is yet another puzzle based metroidvania.

Not exactly a 'fresh' release, but also a pretty unknown game. Despite the fact that it looks like it was built in minecraft it's got solid gameplay, playing like a mixture of antichamber, the witness, and a crossword puzzle. As one of the 2 people who have actually gotten the mastery achievement, I'd say it's worth the 5 dollar summer sale price. 4/1

Seemed interesting so I picked it up. The controls are a bit wonky. If you press forward and strafe at the same time, then release forward you just stop moving. That really fucks me up for some reason. Some of these puzzles are really obtuse as well. Do the pictures on the wall mean anything or are they just intended for orienting yourself?

Some of them are mario style 'jump into them to teleport'. The central room will get more and more portraits to use as fast travel the more of the world you explore.

Yeah the alan wake 1 remaster has remained off of steam and there’s no reason to believe that will change until epic’s entire policy does, which I do think will happen at some point considering fortnite has reached the “oops not actually infinite” part of its infinite growth and EGS itself is still just pouring money down a hole, but it’ll probably still be awhile before they cave

I mean, they still own the unreal engine and between the latest release and unity shooting themselves in the foot they'll probably still be doing really well even as fortnite wanes.
