Perhaps, but he had to book a wrestling show because he was put into a corner. The problem has never been that Vince CAN'T book well, it's that he doesn't want to and is convinced that what he likes to book in typical circumstances is better (it isn't).

I’m going to give the spiciest take ever. But I could probably defend the hell out of it and be like, seriously guys just listen! But instead, whatever here we go:

NXT needs to go. Shut it down.

Friday Night Smackdown, as much as it pains me to say it, was their show of the year tonight. It has major buzz already from people who traditionally slam the show here and all over the web. It proved tonight, in just one stupid idiotic night, that this is what people crave. Even with the screwups, nobody is gonna remember those over seeing some of these dream scenarios.

The duds were overshadowed by talent standing out from NXT. Pairing up with talent for matches many have been saying, “drat, that NXT person needs to fight that main roster person.”

Go back many years ago before NXT. All this talent that was signed went to Raw and/or Smackdown. They fought the people you actually wanted to see.

Matt Riddle doesn’t need NXT. Bianca doesnt need it. Keith Lee doesn’t need it. Hell, hardly any of them do. Put them on the main roster and let them just learn there.

NXT has been an experiment from the get-go and it’s the more praised show of the 3. It’s what people want to see: those players on actual TV. NXT, despite calling itself a main roster now, is not a main roster. It won’t be taken seriously, even if you put it in front of thousands.

Raw and Smackdown are established and it’s what people know. It’s what helps keep WWE alive, amongst many other things.

Take that entire NXT roster and throw them on Raw and Smackdown. You don’t need to see them every single segment or week. But let them have matches against the actual veterans and main roster talents. There doesn’t need to be “put X on NXT”. It’s the reverse.

Close up NXT. Put them on Smackdown and Raw and watch all the viewers come right back and watch the tone of WWE fans change. They can’t quit. And there’s an easy solution.

Even the lovely booking and promos, while they’ll get ragged on, won’t be enough to overshadow the “dream matches” and praise that’ll follow.

NXT's purpose is to get people on the indy scene to sign an exclusivity contract while still getting below indy pay.

The booking is toxic. Seriously, the talent that is ON the main roster would be the envy of any promotion in history and they put on the poo poo they do every week.

Correct. He quit smackdown for the sole and explicit purpose of signing with RAW instead.

Oh, I know. I’ll slam them forever and I’m never coming back. But I do follow like many of you all do. And I know this is exactly the case, amongst other things.

But if they want to just kill everything off for good, they don’t need and shouldn’t use NXT for it. These same talent would sign to be told they’ll be performing for WWE, period.

NXT suffers from an identity crisis. It's supposed to be a training ground/finishing school in the same say that say the New Japan dojos are, but it's largely used as a vanity project for Triple H to run his own version of ROH with a bunch of hyper-talented indy stars. But they do have a ton of trainees who are supposed to be learning, but they don't really get a chance because most of the televised slots are taken up by people who really should have just gone straight to the main roster in the first place but had to be taught "where the cameras are" and other dumb WWE-isms.
