In 2015, Killer Mike and El-P released their album "Run the Jewels 2" as a free download, and offered the chance to buy various versions of the album: from $10 for the WAV/FLAC, to $5,000 for the 'super deluxe collectors' version (four LPs of master discs, both the master and instrumental versions, a test pressing, a four-LP teal and vinyl version, a CD, a T-shirt, a signed poster, and a vinyl insert poster and sticker sheet). Past $5,000, they started getting silly. '$75,000: we'll give you backstage passes for you and your friends and pretend to like you", "$10,000,000: we will retire from music and only make one song a year which we will perform for you only". And, of course, "$40,000: we will make a version of the album with all the instrumentals replaced with cat noises". Some insane people raised $60,000 to get this made.
