Place (and replace if needed) your Operators (characters) on the map, block and kill the oncoming enemies until the counter reaches zero. Don't let the enemies reach your base. Each Operator you place on the map has an associated cost of Deployment Points. These Points generate over time, and Vanguards can add to the points pool too (see below). There are 8 Operator classes:  VanguardThey are usually the first operators onto the battlefield. They normally have a lower deployment cost than operators of other classes, and have skills or abilities that add more Deployment Points.  GuardGuards are responsible for the melee physical damage output of the team. Most of them have a good balance of physical damage and survivability, making them effective for a variety of combat situations.  DefenderDefender Operators form the solid front of any defensive operation. They block the enemy's advance and protect the operators behind them. Generally speaking, Defender Operators can block three enemies at a time.  SpecialistSpecialist Operators excel in the use of special weapons and tactics to control the battlefield. Some of them assassinate key units on their own, while some make use of special battlefield terrain to kill the enemy.  SniperSnipers are responsible for the long-range physical damage output of the team. Their deployment cost is not especially high, making them a good choice for lightly armored targets in the midgame.  CasterCasters are the Arts users of the team and excel at dealing with heavily armored enemy units. Their deployment costs are quite high, but their use of Arts to penetrate enemy armor and deal high damage to units that would otherwise be difficult to bring down makes them well worth the price.  MedicMedic Operators are healers who treat the wounds of damaged operators on the front lines. Medic Operators typically have no combat capabilities, but are nonetheless indispensable.  SupporterSupport Operators provide various buffs or debuffs. Most of them have some ability to output Arts damage while also using special abilities to slow enemy or strengthen our operators. Their variety of effects and abilities can manipulate the flow of battle in many helpful ways. PLOT "In the game, players are in charge of an ark carrying "monster operatives" to investigate disasters occurring due to the mysterious Originium ore. In this expansive yet dangerous world, you may encounter ruined cities in the wastelands, fantastical fairy tale kingdoms, undecipherable mysteries, and maybe even join in cruel and brutal wars." GACHA There are two methods for recruiting Operators: Headhunting  This is the more traditional gacha, in which you spend the currency called Artificial Originium, or alternatively Headhunting Tickets, to roll for Operators. As you might expect, there's gacha banners that will pop up from time to time, that increase the odds of getting particular Operators. Open Recruitment  Spend either Recruitment Tickets or Lungmen Coins, set a timer of up to 9 hours (the longer you wait, the better the odds of getting a higher-star Operator), and specify up to 3 tags for the kind of Operators that you're after, such as "DPS", "Crowd Control" and "Healing". Cause I don't know if I got enough for the free 10 yet do 2 tutorial missions quit out on the 0-1 mission it takes you to collect 3800 gems from mailbox roll newbie banner for 1 guaranteed 6* and possibility of more reset til you get what you want theres a few ways to reset data, at least on android/emu the easiest way is google settings-ads-reset advertising id then go to regular settings and clear the app data. dunno why that reset advertising thing makes it work but it does. also the poster above was rolling the non-newbie banner that cost 6k and has units that aren't in the newbie pool but doesn't guarantee a 6* and takes a bit longer. i wouldn't recommend that even though it clearly worked out for them you can get more then your 1 guaranteed 6* on the newbie banner. best of luck.

Though, the game black screens if I just reset ads and clear app data, it only consistently seems to work if I completely uninstall and reinstall.

I tried to change the squad name from "1st Squad" to "1st Squad" for the mission and it said I was using words that weren't allowed Rolled a Siege & an Exu after a few tries. Game is pretty rad Thinking#3186

So for the newbie banner, only the first 10 rolls guarantee a 6 star, but it will let you roll again 10 more times without the guarantee but with the discount?

Already got two six stars and like three five stars, and the base units seem completely usable anyways. Seems merciful so far. edit: After playing for a few hours without rerolling or paying money, this is what I've got off gacha  I've gotten a number of dupes, most notably of Ifrit. Rerolled 22 times and got SilverAsh and Exusai. I guess I'll stop. The reddit people say that you want balance over lots of 6 stars, especially AoE nukers of which I don't have many.

This rerolling is pretty dire. I think I've done it 15-20 times without every getting two 6* on the intro roll. I'm pretty sure that's abnormally bad luck, since I think there should be roughly a ~13% chance of 2x 6* on that 10 roll.

it's possible to get 6* operators off the free gacha for god's sake https://gamepress.gg/arknights/guide/arknights-operator-recruitment-guide there's seriously no need to go that hard, the rates aren't even bad edit: like here, I went to the summon calculator and did it once, got a 6* and a 5*. but then I clicked through to make sure they were 5 and 6 stars, so I had to go back and do another roll, and got a six star and 3 five stars
